    Injury Update

    Bobby Nightengale
    @nightengalejr

David Bell said Jesse Winker started throwing, so beginning baseball activities. He hasn't started swinging yet.

David Bell didn't have an update on Mike Moustakas before his pregame press conference: "We have to see how he is. Hopefully, it’s day to day. Hopefully, it’s not an IL situation, but really don’t know that for sure until we see him this morning."

Jesse Winker (intercostal strain) is expected to start swinging a bat this week. On the IL since Aug. 16, Winker started throwing last week, but has been mostly working on his body strength, Reds manager David Bell said Sunday morning.

Winker is streaky. He may not hit a lick when he does return. Have to hope he gets back with at least 10 games remaining so he can have his timing back by the time the playoffs start.
Just to be clear. This team is a long way from making the playoffs. Lot of games left to be played.

Wow! Next you are going to tell us that Santa is not real and the sky is falling!

No way to predict the future, but no need to predict the worst instead of the best. We are in playoff contention and that is a good thing!

We're in Wildcard contention. Small difference but for me the Wildcard is fool's good, seeing what's happened the last two times we got one.

I think Moose needs to hit the gym a little harder next offseason.

He needs to take Tucker to the gym with him...not sure how you can make millions and still be out of shape.

He’s never been sculpted, but a player in his shape ages a lot faster than others.

Not exactly six pack abs back then, but dude seems to have really let himself go during his injury.

    Re: Injury Update

Ken Griffey Jr. explained being an aging athlete basically this way: each day becomes longer with more stretching required to just be ready to play and each year requires more working out to keep the muscles and joints up to the standards required to play the game at the highest level. It's a fact, as we age, stuff starts breaking and fat accumulates. It's takes a huge amount of work to stay the tide.

Guessing we'll get Jesse back in time for that big homestand that begins with the Dodgers on the 17th. Who knows how he'll look in the last 15 games but I'd take a cardboard cutout of Winker over the guys who've filled in.

Today the #Reds activated from 10-day injured list RHP Brad Brach (right shoulder impingement) and optioned to Triple-A Louisville IF Alejo Lopez.

    Re: Injury Update

Moose was dealing with PF for quite awhile and had both lateral and medial tears of that fascia...as a runner and someone who has dealt with that injury it absolutely sucks as every time you get up or take a step you end up tearing it again over and over and over...most docs after conservative treatments fail usually end up immobilizing the foot in a walking boot for a period of time...which explains some of the extra weight.
If you have a losing record at Reds games, please stop going.
