    Is Jesse Winker under appreciated?

We lose Joey Votto for a month and still play well enough to win.
We lose Castellanos for three weeks and we still win.
We lose Winker and we seem to not make up for his loss in the 2 hole.
He is one of the best hitters the Reds have had for a while now.
I like Castellanos but he seems to go after bad pitches almost like Suarez at time.
Winker is like the Votto in that he has a good eye for the ball like Votto and seems to drive the ball on a line more than than anybody else on this team.
I also think Winker’s enjoyment for the game spreads to the others when he’s in the game.
Just my impression of this team.
Reds fan since 1968 win or lose.

They are bad pitches in that they are not strikes, good in that he's being scouted well.

I wonder if anyone has won an MVP for the void they left.

Not that I know of. However, if such an award existed, Babe Ruth and Frank Robinson would be winners.

yes. but might be too injury prone to risk a $100M extension. i would just let it play out. under team control for 2 more years.

I think Winker hits close to .350 versus righties, and below .200 versus lefties. So against righties he is sorely missed.
