Reds are just not fundamentally sound. How many times to we see a first and second , no out and they don't move the runner over to third with less than two out ? Too often it takes a two out hit to get a runner home. Too many uppercut swings looking to pull a big blast instead of going with the pitch and serving to the opposite field. The approach has not been good for a long time.
