Reds go down quickly 1-2-3 in the first

grip it and rip it continues to sink them after largely working for 5 months.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

He’s actually hitting .362/.389/.609 on the first pitch this season. Stephenson similarly has success with it. But when it’s not working, well, it really doesn’t work.

I would bet a large sum of money Mahle throws more than 7 pitches here.

Surprising stat.. seems he has swung at 1st pitch every at bat lately, and it's been awful

I almost feel like the Reds are just out of gas. Every team is drained at this point, but we are REALLY struggling

I'm not saying it would have been easy to grab the ball, but Mahle had quite a delayed reaction to that grounder up the middle.

If not this inning then at some point he will throw 25 pitches in a inning. That is the thing they keeps him from being in the conversation as a top tier starter.

Threw more pitches to get one out than Lester did the entire inning but that was a great pitch there.

Mahle attacks on the road cause he isn't afraid of giving up cheap shot home runs

But outside of Farmer, Votto, Castellanos and India they should be as rested as any team. The other 4 spots have been platooned for the most part.

Well, not too bad. Somewhat long AB to end it but it was the only 3 ball AB he had which is a great inning for Mahle.

And that's 3 first pitch outs in a row.
