At least Bell's acknowledging the black hole at the bottom of the lineup, and lumping the offenders together. I think it's a good idea. Today should be an opportunity for Suarez to drive in some runners.

The Reds really need to win 7 of the 9 left with the Pirates. Back when Votto was doing superhuman things and carrying the team on his back, I would have said 7 of 9 would be very likely. Not so sure now. Not so coincidentally, when Joseph came back to Earth so did the Reds. The Cardinals got a reprieve gifted to them by the Reds over the weekend. They seem to have some momentum. Hopefully, it won't last long. Cardinals usually do Cardinals' things this time of year and make a run to the postseason. It would be a shame if they did it again. Time to wake up and get serious, Redlegs!!! It starts tonight!!!

Is Stephenson banged up or is this just Barnhart always catches Miley? Would prefer Stephensons bat in the lineup.

Me too, especially against the lefty. But the C position is the one that carries the least weight for a good bat to be in the starting line-up.

Stephenson has been slumping pretty badly despite ample playing time against LHP lately, he's hitting just .231/.322/.269 with 0 HRs over his last 20 games.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I looked at the standings, did a little math in my head and sure enough, today is the biggest game of the season.

It's sad that we don't have a better option than DeShields. That's 3 position players with sub .190 batting averages...and Miley has a better batting average than all 3!

Not in this offense. Stephenson is a very important bat.

I guess that tells us that Inciarte's career is pretty much done. Or the Reds at least thought he was. Of course DeShields spot would have gone to Senzel but looks like he will never play anything close to a full season.

    Barnhart is Miley's personal catcher.

You think he can raise his batting average to 180?

They need to win at least 6 of 9 against the Pirates. Peters is beyond horrible. Hopefully he is just what the DR. Ordered to get the bats in gear. Maybe the day off helped as well.

I agree with that 6 of 9. Then three of four against the Nats. One against the Dodgers and Chisox will get them into the playoff.

The pitcher is pretty important too. Barnhart is Miley's guy and that's exactly who should be catching when he's on the mound.

Someone needs to get into a wrestling match in the clubhouse. Votto vs Zinter maybe. Then they can go on a nice 10 game winning streak.
