I'd argue that outside of Miley's swoon and a cruddy Vlad starts the starting mostly held up. The 8 straight series losses is almost entirely the offense's fault.

The starting pitching has been mostly great.

If the hitting had continued in any way, we’d be 5 games ahead.

Three weeks ago it looked like we were almost a lock for the WC. I just didn’t think the starting pitching would fall apart and the offense would struggle to score runs. In the end we are about the 500 team I thought we would be to start the season. We still have an outside chance but pretty much have to go on a run here the last two weeks. It’s possible if the offense can get going. Votto and Cast have to heat up and we have to get something out of 3rd base.

I don't see Votto heating up. The guy is worn out, he's old. He's closer now to what he should be at this point. Not disappointed in him, in the slightest. I think the offense going forward is a combination of Castellanos, Farmer and Barnhart / Stephenson.....with a bit of lucky hitting in between.

I agree with this! The bullpen is fine now, I think, if we can put up 3-5 runs a game. It's the starting pitching that needs to set the tone going forward.
