Eleven years ago today, Roy Halladay happened.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

I want to see the "What If?" episode where the Reds never part with Justin Turner.

Here's my rationale for why that's fine. The Reds and Dodgers had an intense rivalry when they were fighting for the penthouse in the original NL West. They were up there Ali vs. Frazier for rivalries in the 1970s. Both clubs were fantastic. And, ultimately, the Reds got the last laugh when they went wire-to-wire in 1990 and then, two years after the divisions were remade, they swept the Dodgers in the 1995 NLDS. And that was the end of games that mattered between them. The Reds won. It's over.

So I've got no leftover antipathy for them. The team I rooted against is long gone. Now they're just some team in blue.

That sums it up for me. If you told me 35 years ago I'd be rooting for the Dodgers against the Cardinals in the playoffs, I'd have said you were crazy. They played an exciting brand of baseball and they were the Midwest's team against the Mets and the Giants. Then the Dodgers moved out of the Reds division and the Cards into the Reds.

I woke up to hear this, sweet dreams after that. Mister Mister cued up in my head. What a fantastically brutal way to lose after a historic winning streak to get there. The Cardinals Way indeed!

Wasn't it about 35 years ago that Ozzie hit his unlikely home run to walk it off against the Dodgers? https://www.baseball-reference.com/b...98510140.shtml

Even with the cheating scandal, I’m rooting for the Astros over the White Sox.

    Dusty over LaRussa, easy choice.

Pretty close. I was rooting for the Cardinals so bad in that series.

With the excitement of the wild card games the last two nights, you can see why TV execs value the playoffs more than the regular season.

Chris Taylor would look good in red. I highly doubt the Dodgers let him walk, though.
