    Co-signed.

Especially in light of the NL DH as a virtual certainty moving forward.

I don't know if a guy that's never played more than 113 games in a big league season is someone I'd be counting on to carry the load for a playoff run. His injury last year came at the worst possible time. Maybe the DH helps, but we have injured Moose and old Votto that are going to need some DH time. Plus it's not like we have three decent OF to put out there if Winker is DHing.

Sure sounds great. What’s the realistic path to that happening though?

Acquire good players via trades, signings, and development. It's not impossible, teams do it all the time.

[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

Well I have waited this long for Winker show his promise. I would like to have him around a little bit longer now that I have seen what he is capable of.

Lorenzen was hurt then pitched like crap. Givens was ok. If they wanted to replace them, I don’t think it’ll be hard.

Yes we should get rid of Winker, the Reds were 9 games over 500 in games he started and 8 games over in games he played in. His injuries cost them the season.

I've heard of such stories, but I haven't seen anything like that around these parts.

    Suarez
    Gray
    Castillo
    Miley
    Naquin
    Castellanos
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

Those players have lead us to a Pennate? That's what he was suggesting in the original post.

    Told you guys!

Granted I thought we’d try to get actual talent for him not just use him to dump Geno.

Step back from the ledge guys. Now if they trade Castillo, Mahle, or Gray for peanuts. Or Winker. Then let’s start talking fire sale.

    Re: Winker Trade Value

Castellanos and Winker were the best bats in our lineup. This had to be a salary dump of Suarez, but no one would take him or Moustakis at that price without Winker.

The outfield was crowded and so was the infield, but not so much any more.

As terrible as it is to lose Castellanos, Winker and Gray in the same offseason... And Miley and Barnhart... I think it'll be ok. I just hope they don't dump Castillo and Mahle this season.

When Moustakis and Votto are done, there will be a lot of money available. Until then, as bad as it seems losing great players, we're still very competitive.
