Why didn’t Cobb’s family sue for that kind of defamation of character? I remember reading how he also praised Maury Wills as well even before that record breaking 1962 season. Some of his quotes didn’t fit or else I thought he mellowed with age and became more progressive with his feelings. Might as well have written that he tortured animals too.

I have always read that he mellowed a lot with age and he came to regret most or some of things he said and did as a player.

Well I do know how unrepentant racist southern men into the 50s and into the 60s would never allow themselves to be shown shaking the hand of a black man like that. That’s how petty and small they could be.

I recently watched a video of a guest speaker at Liberty University talk about Cobb's life. He made a compelling case disproving the racist notions about Cobb that've been propogated by Ken Burns and others.
