I received that book as a Christmas gift (I suggested it) and it looks great.

Read many books but my favorite was Catch you Later and Catcher in the Rye. The thing That spiked my interest in baseball history was Baseball Digest, my mom got me a subscription and I read them from front to back multiple times.
When I see the 2016 Reds, I see a 100 loss team and no direction.

I too loved Baseball Digest. I think I have my Reds player cover editions somewhere in the house.

I picked up a book a few years ago that was a collection of his writings. A lot of "You Know Me Al" stuff in there.

    Re: All-Time Favorite Baseball Books

This may have been the first baseball book I read as a kid. It taught me the history of baseball and taught me to respect the players of the past era. I recently tried to sell it at a garage sale and glad no one purchased it.

Two I haven’t seen listed yet:

The Last Best League. About the Cape Cod League (late 1990s-ish)

Foul Ball. Retired Jim Bouton and his quest to save and run the local minor league stadium/team.

I had that book and may still have it packed away in a box.

My favorite from the 70s I believe, was The Umpire Strikes Back by Ron Luciano. Anyone else read that one?
