    Sidney Poitier dead, age 94

Sidney Poitier has died at the age of 94. The first black male actor to win an Oscar.

My wife & I almost watched the great movie Sneakers on New Years Eve. Great cast, fun movie. Obviously Poitier had many magnificent roles.

Sneakers is one of the most prescient technology films ever made. And Poitier was fantastic in it as part of a great ensemble cast.

Went back a few months ago and watched In The Heat Of The Night. Poitier and Rod Steiger were excellent.

To Sir With Love is another fave of mine. I was 14 when that movie came out and had a gigantic crush on Lulu.

A big loss. So many great performances. I recommend Lillies of the Field which he won the Oscar for. Sneakers is super underrated.

I looked it up last night. Eight actors in the cast either have won Oscars or been nominated, including ALL of the team.

I think we’re the same age. Same here.
