This should be one of the top offseason HC jobs available

I think people may be overselling the Lawrence angle. I’m not saying he’s not a selling point at all, but nothing about him on the field this year suggested an elite NFL talent. I know their roster is a mess and the head coach situation was bad, but he didn’t even show flashes of that talent like most of the great ones do. My big concern with him was that he didn’t really progress in college. I don’t think he was any better his junior year than freshman. It’s not crazy to think he’ll wind up being very average.

I don't remember the source, but local (Jax) radio guys were talking about some national source that labeled the Jax job the least attractive of all the openings. That was before NYG canned Judge.

Here are all the known HC interviews for Jags

    Doug Pederson (Dec 30)
    Todd Bowles (Jan 3)
    Jim Caldwell (Jan 4)
    Byron Leftwich (Jan 7)
    Kellen Moore (Jan 7)
    Darrell Bevell (Jan 11)
    Bill O’Brien (Jan 13)
    Nate Hackett (Jan 14)
    Matt Eberflus (Jan 15)
Bud Selig: "I'm the worst commissioner ever"
    Rob Manfred: "Hold my beer"

The organization is a disaster and they had arguably the least talented team in football on the field, especially at the positions that assist him the most WR/TE. They coddled him/his arm (5.9 YPA after 8.3, 9, and 9.4 at Clemson), Urban woefully misused him, took his best weapon (Robinson) off the field way too often for a has been RB Carlos Hyde, his best WR lost for the year (Chark), somehow managed to turn Laviska irrelevant etc. etc. etc. If you ask me I think Lawrence did what he could while remaining in bounds with what he was being told to do....which was absolute horse****. Then the few times he was given the ability to sling it he was out of his element and it went very poorly.

In college his passer rating improved every year. He may not have drastically improved over the 3 years but I think that speaks more to how good he was as a freshman.

He will not be average. He may never be great (though I would argue with the right pieces around him he'll be a Pro Bowl QB). With that being said I still believe there is a very high ceiling in terms of potential and what potential HCs see when they look at him and what he has done.

I saw today where Mike Renner posted QBs with the most completions lost due to receiver error (drops/misplay/etc.) in 2021 - Brady 47, Herbert 46, Ben 41, Stafford 41, Lawrence 40. He's better than what happened this year, a lot better.

Byron Leftwich has finally gotten an interview request from another team. Bears.

I feel much better about Trevor after the last game in which he was excellent.

With the current Rooney Rule in place, minorities should have no problem getting an interview. Getting hired is something else

The Jags three wins were against teams with winning records

    Lots of cap space

This is a potentially attractive job (minus the GM situation)

You do realize that was 7 years ago and was about his father right?

This will not be a quick process

    Aaron Wilson
    @AaronWilson_NFL
Jacksonville Jaguars' head coaching search process is expected to last another week and a half to two weeks before a decision is reached and a second round of interview is expected, according to league sources

Sure didn't. Thanks for clearing that up.

I know the Broncos are interested in Brian. Glad to see that the list isn't longer

Jags interviewed Bill O'Brien yesterday. Opinions around town with some proclaiming him the front runner because he will work with Baalke. A couple of people that sometimes have good inside info, claim otherwise. I think their logic is "O'Brien is only being mentioned because he and Baalke have same agent, and that agent is the one spreading the FUD to get his name out there"
