    That’s a 3B making that catch.

In lieu of the rule changes for 2023, I thought I'd bring this poll back up so we could see how much support this had back in January.

I’m OK with the new ruling on the shift. I think it will bring back the great infield plays that have been missing from the game since they started shifting so radically. I love watching talented infielders make the great plays.

Re: What do you want - The Shift

I've come around on this one in support of banning the shift. For me, it's less about BABIPs and more aesthetics. The exacerbation of the imbalanced dynamic between lefties and righties is just not something I just don't enjoy watching. And while some argue (as I have) that the positions are arbitrary, most sports have something similar -- restrictions on player positioning for the sake of avoiding un-fun but otherwise optimal strategies. The lane exists in basketball. Various alignment and movement rules exist in football. Soccer has offsides, hockey has icing, etc.

And if it increases the value of player talent, especially athleticism, relative to coaching, all the better.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
