I am in favor of this as long as all of the technology is worked out and its thoroughly tested at the minor league level and it goes through one complete MLB spring training schedule. I truly believe it can work and it would make the game better.
Yes - Let's make sure the correct calls are made
No - I'm all for the human element even if a few mistakes are made.

More tech geek stuff from MLB blogs technologies.

Having some background in these areas (helped develop a 6dof computer model of a laser guided bomb and also a pilot ejection seat model (ATB)), I understand a bit how objects are modeled in 3 dimensional space. It gets pretty hairy. But it looks like these guys are doing all the math and developing a total IT solution that can be used on the field of play. Lots of geek speak in the links, but it appears to being done in a very methodical and diligent way.

I'm no on almost all of these rule changes but I'm an overwhelming, enthusiastic yes on this.
Egotistical, aggressive umps who toss guys for questioning their custom strike zone that calls strikes on pitches a foot outside need to be a thing of the past. I'm sure that there will be times when the machines get the call wrong. They don't have to be perfect, just an improvement on what we're dealing with now. I can't imagine they could be worse.
While we're at it, let's add a real-time replay review on every play. A second look from the booth to verify the call the ump made. If it can't be changed in 30 seconds, leave it alone but no more manager challenge with long delays.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

There will be errors and mistakes by the robo umps and alot of that will come down to human error in setting up the system especially setting up the top and bottom of strike zone. Plus what about people messing with the system cheating or people trying to influence the system (gamblers maybe or fans)
What happens when you see that a system is not calling the strikezone correctly.
Well you see in tennis where there are clear line where their automatic system makes mistakes.
People will put up with umps making mistakes but are not as acceptable if a robo ump makes them.

But what about when the robo umps gain self-awareness and start judging more than balls and strikes?
I'm not a system player. I am a system.
I think batters would learn the strike zone of robo umps quickly and the offense will benefit.

Pitch framing: also a thing of the past, and for the better.
Same strike zone every night, no catchers stealing strikes, it really should end up as a marginal "win" for the offense. Only thing that they'll have to get used to is the high strike being called (according to the MLB Tech blog) , which was the only real complaint (and not so much a complaint as an observation, as it was called consistently so you simply had to make the adjustment as a batter) in the 2+ year minor league deployment of the ABS.
