Interested in what the Pryor kid from Wisconsin can do looks and plays fast said he consistently ran in the 4.3's and 4.4's at Wisc..kid might play snaps as the 4th or 5th receiver.

Also really interesting article on Chido, what a FA class that was for the Bengals...

    Preseason Game 2 so far:

The good - Volson looks good and Chris Evans is a weapon.

The bad - the tackle depth is frightening and Brandon Allen is embarrassing. If Joe has to miss 3-4 games, the season is over.

Hopefully, they’ll pick up some depth before the season starts. Most backups stink outside of a handful. If Joe goes down, they’re screwed, but that can be said for most teams.

    Yep.

If Burrow had a good backup there’s usually a good reason in that there’s a competition. That’s obviously not the case which is why Allen is still on the roster.

Honestly i would take a look at AJ Mcarren as a backup

Let’s hope Burrow does not end up like Andrew Luck. Everything else about this team is great to excellent except that inability to get OL at all.

Someone wrote a very funny post about Geoff Hobson that had to be shared. Please scroll down to the comments section. After reading Hobson articles since at least the late 90s?? It is spot on.

We can't judge anything from last night. At best, one starter played on the OL

I heard it explained this way. If you have a specialists on your board, you often times need to take him one round earlier than you have him slotted. But I do tend to agree with the notion that drafting kickers are a bad idea. But when you realize the kicking game in the NFL is just a bunch of recycled kickers, getting a top tier K can give you and advantage.

Elliott seems to be the run of the mill kicker. You don't want to draft and then cut him, but he is not on the level of a kicker that McPherson is.

Shooter really changed things last year he was such an effective weapon for the Bengals. I also think the kid the Bills drafted this year to punt will also continue to put to bed the idea you shouldn't draft kickers. Or at least maybe you shouldn't draft a kicker or punter unless they are special. Having someone who can kick 50 yarders consistently or a punter that can pin a team from anywhere he boots it is pretty important. I think teams in the league realize that after seeing what McPherson ended up doing.

Is he still playing? I haven’t heard his name in awhile.

You have to hit on these picks. I look at it this way, if you were in need of a kicker, you could sign one off the scrap heap who can give you league average performance. But there always is that opportunity to get a special player. A guy who can give you elite performance.

As for punters, right now the Bengals have a backup who IMO can replace Huber without blinking an eye. You may get better performance out of a guy who doesn't have the mileage on the leg that Huber has. If you feel there is that chance to get an elite punter, absolutely go for it. But if it isn't there, a suitable replacement can be found pretty much anywhere.

Not worried about the starters other than they are not playing together until the opener. But that’s a small quibble. Like starting pitchers you don’t expect them to start every game or play all downs. Most of these backups are so bad you’re almost afraid of any play with them.

They might sign Spann after the first week due to not owing him a full salary after you sign a player after week 1. The joke about Hobson always talking about not enough money even to protect the franchise. It’s always comical.

The offensive line is still my biggest worry. We can't afford many injuries there and we still don't know what we have since they're not playing on the field

Trey Hill looked good. Volston looks ok for the most part. He’s making correctable mistakes. Not getting blown up.
