Minor is a decent 5th starter. It will be interesting how much of his $10M contract the Royals are paying.

Actually not a bad deal for the Reds. If Johnson can get him back to his 2019 numbers, he'll be a strong #3 or #4.

I liked Amir but he got into his own way, I hope KC can help him settle down and be the pitcher he has the potential to be.

Yeah, this one is actually a good deal. I’m a fan of dumping Garrett, and Minor can actually eat some innings if nothing else.

I'm not weeping tears over moving Amir. Minor profiles as a pure innings eater, though I'm not sure why the Reds are being cavalier about pitchers with ugly FB rates. Minor has Eric Milton potential.

For the same price they could have kept Wade Miley, who's a better pitcher.

Always love coming here this time of year for possible trade news. Now I almost dread it. Has gone from the Redszone to the Disasterzone (it's not the company).

Noy necessarily talking about this deal. Amir probably needed to move on and Minor might be able to give them something. With the starters they've added, wonder if they'll move Sanmartin to the back of the bullpen?

They could have just kept Wade Miley. This is pretty weird.

Milton also struggled to strike guys out. Minor is reasonably effective at punching guys out, which should mitigate the flyball issues to an extent.

Hoping Minor has a Major impact.

    On the plus side, obviously.

Surely the Royals are picking up a majority of Minor's $9MM contract...

Royals are eating some of it even though I agree with you about Miley.

Re: Reds traded Amir Garrett to the Royals for Mike Minor and cash considerations.

    Charlie Goldsmith @CharlieG__

Mike Minor, 34, provides starting pitching depth.
He made 28 starts last year with a 5.05 ERA.
There was optimism about a bounce back year from Garrett, but that will now have to happen in KC.

You can group this move with the Barnhart and Miley moves. It’s not a move that helps the Reds on the field in 2022 or beyond.
