    Reds sign Donovan Solano

Infielder, pretty good numbers. $4.5 million, I’m reading.

Wonder what this means for Farmer. Or Moose.

    Ha ha.
Krall dumps good players so he can sign 34 year old bench players with the payflex?
    What an idiot.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

More evidence Barrero is heading to the OF. Solano is kind of redundant as a RH bench infielder with Farmer/Barrero...

Yeah, my first reaction was that Moose is a goner. Or maybe another infielder, like Farmer, as you say.

The one place Reds seemed well stocked was the infield, Schrock, Farmer, Barrero, Lopez, the obvious starting guys.

Solano has some good numbers, seems like something has to give here.

I think Farmer is the next trade victim.

Padres need a shortstop for at least half the season

Gotta mean we're about package Moose and India/Castillo/Mahle or some other stupid trade to shed more payroll "for the future".

Who knows, but Krall just said he doesn't see them moving Castillo or Mahle this year.

Yeah, you’d hate for the loss of Suarez to open up at-bats for your top infield prospect. Krall is Executive of the Year…. Using golf scoring rules.

Puzzling. They need OF help, they need bullpen, the need a back-up catcher. They sign an IF. Maybe Farmer will be the back-up catcher or a platoon OF.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I like this deal especially if it means Farmer is traded. Solano is going to love the GAB gifts.

    Re: Reds sign Donovan Solano

So clearly they’re going for some sort of “retool” but it also smacks of just throwing a thin veneer of paint over things and continuing the sell off at the deadline.

Solano’s second act with the Giants was impressive though after his years of not hitting for the Marlins. Solid enough ball player.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
