    Re: 2022 Reds Injury Updates

OF Albert Almora Jr. (right shoulder contusion)
    Expected return: Early September

Almora began his rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Aug. 31. In his two games played, he's a combined 1-for-6 at the plate with a single and a walk.

The outfielder landed on the injured list after making a pair of great diving catches Aug. 19 against the Pirates and falling short on another in the ninth inning, when he came up hunched over in discomfort but remained in to finish the game after being checked by trainers. (Last updated: Sept. 3)

RHP Hunter Greene (right shoulder strain)
    Expected return: Around Sept. 11

In his first rehab assignment start for Triple-A Louisville on Sept. 1, Greene pitched two scoreless innings with one hit, no walks and four strikeouts. He threw 27 pitches, plus an additional eight pitches in the bullpen. Reports said he touched over 100 mph with his fastball and had a good slider. Greene is on track to pitch again for Louisville on Tuesday. (Last updated: Sept. 2)

RHP Graham Ashcraft (right biceps soreness)
    Expected return: September

Ashcraft began throwing Aug. 29 and is scheduled to throw in a bullpen session Sept. 3. If that goes well, he could throw in a live batting practice. It’s possible that he would get a rehab assignment, but that’s not been determined as of yet.

INF Matt Reynolds (left hip pain)
    Expected return: September

Reynolds is slated to begin a rehab assignment Sept. 4 with Triple-A Louisville.

An MRI exam Aug. 23 revealed that Reynolds had a chronic labral tear in his left hip. Because it’s a chronic injury, he could resume playing this season after receiving treatment.

Graham Ashcraft threw 32 pitches and two "innings" when he faced hitters today in a live batting practice session.

He hopes he'll need only one rehab start before rejoining the Reds' rotation.

That would give him three more MLB starts this season.

Hunter Greene says his next start will be with the Reds this week. All went well on his rehab assignment.

He's got to hold off Minor for finishing with the most IP for the Reds this season.

Minor....ugh...that'd be an awful trivia answer in a decade.

In 2017, Tim Adleman led the Reds with 122⅓ IP. Scott Feldman was second with 111⅓.

Didn't Sal Romano lead them one year?

No, he was second with 145⅔ innings in 2018, behind Luis Castillo with 169⅔.

    Injuries & Moves:

Sept. 23: LHP Mike Minor placed on 15-day IL
Minor was scratched from his start against the Brewers after he was placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Sept. 20, with left shoulder soreness. Right-hander Luis Cessa will start instead.

Sept. 23: RHP Connor Overton reinstated from 60-day IL
Overton was reinstated from the IL after making two rehab starts with Triple-A Louisville, fanning nine and walking three over 7 2/3 innings. The righty was on the IL because of a stress reaction in his lower back.

Overton, who last started on May 17 for the Reds, will be in a relief role for the rest of the season.

Mike Minor, placed on the IL with a season-ending shoulder injury, says he's weighing retirement after his tough 2022 season and 11-year career.

“I’m not closing the door, but it’s barely cracked.”

Minor says he tried to manage the pain in his shoulder, but he felt it nearly every start this year.

“A lot of times, it was like what am I managing because I’m not even pitching well. I’m not really helping the team.”

    Re: 2022 Reds Injury Updates

You can jot Art Warren down as another one of the current 52 Reds who shouldn't be carried on the 40 man all winter.

30 years old and career 0 bWAR in 62 big league innings.

Reds right-hander Art Warren recently underwent a surgery to fix some UCL damage in his throwing elbow, manager David Bell told reporters (including MLB.com’s Mark Sheldon). The procedure wasn’t a Tommy John surgery, as Bell noted that it didn’t involve ligament replacement.

TJ Friedl left tonight’s game with a hamstring injury. He’ll miss the final two games of the season.

Senzel had surgery last week because his broken toe wasn't healing properly. That sounds like a joke but it isn't.

He can't even stay healthy in the off season. Why do I think of Charlie Brown?
