Will Smith isn't OK with Rock making a joke about his wife's hair. Maybe he should have asked to sleep with her, Smith seems to be OK with other men sleeping with his wife. Think about that for a minute!!!!

Violent crime is down 49% from 1993-2019. Something must have been done about it. Or maybe we're becoming a more peaceful people.

Violent crime was up in 2020 & 2021. So I stand by my statement.

It wasn't a joke about her hair. She lost her hair because of a medical condition.

I don't watch Foxnews… but that's always your go to!

It was a joke about her hair...tasteless yes...if he knew that she had a condition. You don't even know that Rock knew about it. I didn't! If Rock didn't know about her medical condition, the joke was totally in bounds!

Re: Will Smith Slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars Tonight

    My question is this:

What would have happened if Rock has retaliated and punched Will back and other people had to break it up?

Would they have been escorted out then? It would have been worse in terms of PR but if Rock had punched him back that may have been the only way to have gotten Smith removed (and Rock as well)

Since covid hit, we, as a nation, have normalized violence. A guy just came up, on stage, and slapped the host at the Oscars. Was he escorted out? Nope. He actually accepted an award shortly after. And his speech afterwards. Condoning violence in the name of "love."

We are trending downward to the lowest common denominator, and we are celebrating this as if it is a good thing.

    Idiocracy.

I use Fox News as a stand-in for cable news, because they are the most popular cable news channel. They also make everything sound like it is way worse than it is.

Huh, as in are you new to the United States? Violence has always been normalized here. 10 years ago we had a dude stalk a guy, shoot him, and then was cheered in the streets when he got off scott-free. I mean, just look at the action movies from the 80s and 90s when it was normalized for middle-aged people today.

And "we" certainly are not celebrating it. The vast majority of people are judging the hell out of Will Smith and the Academy Awards today.

Just odd to me there wasn't more of a defensive posture by Rock...if it wasn't staged he would have to know Will wasn't happy...why place you hands behind your back. Never seen anything like it...

LAPD said Rock declined to press charges

Then just say cable news. The statistics don't lie, violent crime is on the rise. Do I think it's out of control...nope...but it is an issue that needs to be addressed.

Because not in a million years did he think Will Smith was going to hit him?

    From your source:
    Where’s The Data For 2021?

Readers ask, “where’s the data for 2021?”

The FBI and the Bureau of Justice Statistics are always about a year behind in providing final data.

For example, the FBI just released final figures for 2020 in late September 2021. The report from the Bureau of Justice Statistics National Crime Victimization Survey for 2020 should be here soon.

Nevertheless, there is data from non-federal sources regarding increases in violence for 2021.

    Increasing Violent Crime-2021

As of this writing, we have statistics from the FBI for 2020 and the Bureau of Justice Statistics National Crime Victimization Survey for 2019. We do not have data from official sources for 2021. However, all indications from news reports indicate a growing problem with homicides and other forms of violent crime.
So, basically the author is making up the 2021 stats to fit their narrative.

It would have been more fun for sure if those two would have scrapped in their tuxes.
