#Reds starter Nick Lodolo had MRI today on left leg (stress reaction).
“Progressing well.” But has 2 more weeks to go in the boot.

And 4-6 weeks after that for a probable return. #August

Glass Lodolo. Had issues in the minors with injuries too. It's never anything major (which is good) but it's always something (which is not good). At least it's not his arm, but this guy seems to severely lack durability.

I have no idea if he can stay healthy, but Nick Lodolo is by a comfortable distance the best pitcher the Reds have when he is healthy.

Nick Lodolo shows Cincinnati Reds what might have been – and what might yet be

When left-hander Nick Lodolo finally made his long-awaited return to the mound Saturday after nearly a year away because of injury, he did a lot more than pick up where he left off.

He also delivered a loud, vivid demonstration of what the Reds were missing last September during a surprising pennant drive that fell two wins short of the playoffs — if not why his return now might amount to the biggest roster “acquisition” of this playoff-minded season for the team.

Just how much better are the Reds today if Lodolo look the rest of the season even close to what he looked like Saturday in a 10-strikeout, 5-0 victory over the White Sox that didn’t include a hit off him until an infield single up the middle in the sixth?

By now almost everyone in Cincinnati who knows what a baseball is knows the difference it might have made if Lodolo had been able to come back from the stress fracture in his leg in September instead of experiencing that final setback in the rehab start that would be the last time he pitched in 2023.

But what about the impact now, this year, the rest of this season of great promise for a reinforced Reds team?

He’s a Chris Sale clone. And Sale avoided TJ for 8-9 years with that whip like motion. I’m hoping Lodolo experiences the same luck.

Totally. I took him before Hunter Greene in my fantasy league and didn’t even think twice about it.

Was this a smart move? Probably not. But if he can stay healthy I think he can be amazing.

The delivery and breaking stuff is breathtaking when on. I'd try and have him and Hunter back to back as it will really mess with a teams timing in a series

He’s the kind of pitcher the Reds have never had, and I always wished they did. Those long arms make it look so effortless.

He will lead the league in hitting batters while also striking them out.

Amazingly enough, while I watched the highlights of the game, I sat there going, damn, he looks like Chris Sale throwing the ball. Then I see your post here. I think we are in agreement on this.

I think that was smart. I would've done the same thing. In the 70s the Reds top two pitchers were Don Gullett and Jack Billingham. Gullett had the better stuff but it was Billingham that did more of the winning

    Re: Nick Lodolo

Today should be Lodolo's turn in the rotation, but Reds.com shows today's starter as TBD. They're doing that just to mess with us, right?
