Dwayne Haskins hit by car and killed

It is on the whole probable that we continually dream, but that consciousness makes such a noise that we do not hear it. Carl Jung.

Tragic. Must have been a car breakdown or something of that nature, because it happened on an interstate.

Terrible. He was married just over a year ago and was in Florida working on his game during the offseason. There's no "right" age to pass away, but 24 is definitely too damned young.

Awful news. Hard to fathom at 24 years old.

Lost a lot of respect for Adam Schefter after his now deleted tweet about Haskins dying this morning. What an *******.

Every automobile-related death is avoidable by promoting alternative forms of transportation.

This is a tragedy. Will never forget him coming into the Michigan game in Ann Arbor as a freshman and shocking the Wolverines. RIP…

The reports I saw on local news claimed he was walking "on" I595 around 6:30AM. It could be semantics, but the report did not claim or suggest the truck went off the road and hit him.....but hit him on the interstate. If I recall, I595 connects I95 and Alligator Alley.....there is a lot of swampy retention reservoirs along the road, and I can imagine wanting to stay closer to the road than off the shoulder if I was walking in the dark.

I assume as more facts come out, it will make more sense in regards to the logistics.....but I would think it is uncommon in 2022 for someone that has car trouble to begin hiking down the interstate since everyone has a phone, especially a professional athlete with a material bank account.

Apparently, he was attempting to cross several lanes of traffic. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...tion&ci=517989

Might this have been a suicide? What a way to do that...

I very much doubt it....or at least would think even a mentally troubled person would choose a less horrible method. Clearly, it does not currently make much sense with the limited facts reported.....unless some facts come out that clear things up, it would seem like the only thing that could make the situation more understandable is if there was some form of intoxication.

I was thinking the same thing (or drug or alcohol related) but apparently his vehicle broke down and the person who hit him is being investigated for vehicular homicide.
