It's only natural to wonder what happened. These circumstances sure seem unusual. Everything's on the table at this point

If you want to know if the cause of death for any famous person is suicide or overdose, all you have to do speculate it early and often and, eventually, it will be confirmed or it won’t.

I'm just curious what The Record is going to reflect. And how awful of a take it will be.

Early reports are his car ran out of gas and he crossed traffic to get help...those reports as of right now are unverified.

Sad story...I feel for his family and teammates.

RZ always looks for a way to personally attack other RZers. They don't care about Gil Brandt. He doesn't post here. This is for sure a tragic thing. I'm wondering what exactly happened. We may never know

I actually don't think Schefter's comments were bad, just unnecessary. We wouldn't even be having this discussion if the dude didn't play football so how is it inappropriate to talk about his struggles as a football player? Not a big deal.

I thought Brandt's were inappropriate. The reaction from Sean Taylor's death from the media was much worse than what was said about Haskins.

With Schefter being a UM alum, it honestly came off as one last dig.

Either way: “Dwayne Haskins, QB for the Pittsburgh Steelers was struck by a vehicle and passed away this morning. Details are still coming in.”

It was absolutely unnecessary and inappropriate. The man probably has family and definitely friends that found out from that tweet.

I have the same feeling with Dwayne than I had with Taylor Hawkins. They provided me with a great amount of joy, Dwyane with his tenure at OSU and Taylor with his music. It just sucks.

There will be a time and place to discuss Haskins, his career and the why, but the day he died is not it.

Gil Brandt, well I can't say what I want to on a family friendly board. Schefter needs to do better, and he knows this. I don't think it was malicious, but it was wrong.

I haven’t really known what to say about this and at least from a football perspective I can’t say it any better than Ramzy does in that article.

there have been people that have committed suicide by jumping out in front of a large vehicle. Yes it would be a horrible way to go, but the people in those situations are clearly struggling so rational decisions aren't always made.

No clue if this is what happened to Dwayne, certainly its possible, or it could be just as simple as his car ran out of gas and he tried to cross lanes and didn't see the traffic or wasn't paying attention. Sad situation in any case, we may never know the truth of what happened. We likely don't need to.

This happens in the DC subway system a lot. Someone jumps in front of the train to commit suicide. Has to be an awful way to do it but when you are that bad off mentally you will do anything I suppose.

I was driving home from dinner on Saturday and a pedestrian had been hit on the freeway due to his car breaking down. Lanes were closed, saw the body under the sheet, it was pretty awful.

Can we stop the suicide and what happened speculation unless news comes out to that effect please? I understand the curiosity. Wonder to yourself. Stop posting that stuff.

We may never know the truth but there likely was not much traffic at 6:30 in the morning on a weekend and it's pretty unlikely to not see a dump truck coming.

Well, 6:30 in the morning is also a time of day when the sunlight is such that a driver might not turn on their lights even though they still need to. We'll hear more soon enough, I'm sure.
