We're in the 2nd week of the season and the best we can hope for is that the team's poor start gets the GM fired.
I'm not a Krall fan, but replacing him is useless unless they go out and do a real search for a guy who can turn this around. They'll just promote the next underwhelming guy in line. Names will change, results will stay the same. They need a long term search for a guy to hand the keys to and then completely get out of the public eye. The reds haven't done that since Castellini bought the team. Jocketty is a decent baseball guy, but he was a guy Bob knew, not a guy that they did an extensive search for who might better fit the situation in Cincinnati. Then they handed things to the owners kid and when he walked, they gave it to his second banana. I really don't want to see the next step in the food chain taking over.

I agree with the sentiment, however, I do not see how anyone could be worse than Krall. I legitimately think half the posters on RZ would do a better job.

The offense may be end up being terrible, Krall’s trade may end up looking like the worst, but it’s been two weeks, against the World Champions, and two of the best pitching staffs in the game, the last series without India and Senzel.

It’s beyond a knee jerk to draw any conclusions about this team in anyway after the first three series. But this is a game thread, so I guess expected.

I don’t think this is a 100 loss team, like many others, but it’s pretty obvious this is a deeply flawed roster.

The team looks exactly the same to me as it did on opening day. A 75-80 win team. This start hasn’t changed anything.

I mean, if we are to judge Krall’s moves by this first two weeks, Winker’s OPS is .557, while Miley and Gray are hurt. He looks like a genius, lol.

It’s technically possible the Reds could do well this year. Or that GABP could levitate from its foundation and reveal itself to be a space craft to humanity’s next planet. It’s a bit intellectually incurious and argumentatively inferior to extract any negative or non-fantastical conclusion from one week of competitive ballgame matches.

No conclusions, but it was dubious from the beginning. Tommy Pham is on a two year decline and he's age 34. I get that people have hope, but he's an expensive retread until proven otherwise. Votto is 39. Nick Senzel has never had a good season. Mike Moustakas looks completely cooked. Stephenson and India are sophomores, a year wear most guys take a step back as the adjustment cycle works its way through. Kyle Farmer and Tyler Naquin are journeyman at this point who should be platoon guys. Donovan Solano is a career platoon guy (from the short side of the platoon) and is 34. Colin Moran is the definition of disappointment (unless Senzel is). Fraley is a bench guy. Aquino is a punch line.

So you're right, no reason to change what you thought going in. I thought they would struggle. Still do.
