I think the tinkering with the stance last night was entirely related to Manaea. He looked like he didn't see his pitches well at all.

I'm not worried about Votto. Earlier in the year he was hitting the ball solidly, but had some hits taken away by the shift. Half his ABs have been against LHP too, which isn't going to be the case the rest of the year.

They've faced the Braves, Dodgers, Padres and Indians to start the season. Doesn't get much tougher than that.

Wouldn't be surprised if things start to turn around offensively for a lot of guys when they get home Friday. Temps will start warming up and the competition isn't quite as tough. If things are still where they are after they play the Brewers and Pirates 14 games over the first part of May, then I would start to get concerned.

I think at this point you just give Votto whatever he wants, regardless of production. If he wants to play everyday you play him everyday. If he wants to bat lead off you let him bat lead off. This franchise is screwed him over so much -- at this point you let him call all the shots until he retires.

Not that it hasn't been putrid for Votto or the team as a whole, but the games kinda broken now. Winker has two EBH, Joey Gallo three, Carlos Correa four.

MLB is averaging only four runs a game, a lot of of stupid stuff over the last decade has brought us here, three outcome embracement, spider tack, changing baseballs, huge bullpens.

At the rate we are heading the end of the season is going to produce some numbers that will be head scratching

Do you think the house cleaning prior to the start of the season was also an orchestrated ploy in the hopes to get Votto to retire or agree to waive his NT clause?

Its like the employee you can’t fire, you just make it so intolerable for him that he doesn’t want to stay.
