Torres showing some pop is certainly an interesting development. Allen and Hendrick both seem like candidates to be moved up to A+ fairly soon. I guess they'll go slower with Allen since he doesn't turn 20 until the off season. It's hard to tell how good he could be with how good his all around game looks already with the power speed and plate discipline.

No need to rush Allen. Maybe midway through the season. First real taste of pro ball.

I’d look to move Hendrick up to Dayton by mid-May
What would you say.....ya do here?

    Interesting.

    I don't think I'd move either.

Hendrick more than most (IMO) needs a sustained run of excellence. He also needs to learn how to hit differently than he did-- because what he was doing wasn't working. (Ironically, I suspect if he went to a Yankee Paul O'Neil approach rather than a Red Paul O'Neil approach, he'd be better off. That's my upper end comp for him on his good days.) He needs the lesser pitchers to work on that swing and can always be moved two levels next year if need be. Now, if he continues to mash, continues to walk at his current rate, limits the K's to 25% or less moving forward, and has a BA above .280 at the halfway point of the season, sure. I suspect he's figured it out. (Or, conversely, if the Reds feel the park is killing his would-be production.) Until then, let him mash.

I wouldn't move Allen until the halfway point either. Even then, he too would have to mash to the tune of a .300/.400/.500 season. There's little to be gained from that aggressive move.

It's great these guys are hitting the ball hard-- let's find out if they need to make adjustments before moving them up.

I def get what you are saying with Hendrick, and it does makes a lot of sense. However, he spent all of last year at A- IIRC, so I think another month of sustained success it should be time to push him to Dayton. Challenge thy hitters and all that.

Yeah, more than one way to develop kids, for sure.

Sustaining his recent uptrend is key.

    Regardless of where he plays.

Jose Torres is officially named the 4/20 Mace Memorial Minor League Player of the Day for his 4-4 2 HR performance.

Toke one for all of us, Jose. The day is yours!
