    4/22 Minor League Scores

The AAA Louisville Bats have Ben Lively on the bump. The former Phil is 0-2 with a 5.54 ERA. Time for a gem, Ben. He faces off against Matt Swarmer, who has yet to give up an earned run this season. He's got 11 K's too. That's a bunch. Might be a long night at the old ballpark for Bat fans, but that's typical, amirite? The Bats came back last night from down five runs to get the win in extras-- they're now 5-10 on the year. Five more in a row gets them to .500.

AA Chattanooga is 6-6 after losing last night. They face off against the Mississippi Braves and Jared Shuster, who owns a 0.90 ERA with 17 Ks. They'll need to dent that scoreboard somehow. It'll be a good test for a trio of hot Lookouts-- TJ Hopkins, Matt McLain, and Michael Siani. Good challenges to see where they are currently. No one has a clue as to who will pitch tonight for Chattanooga.

High A Dayton is the cream of their division. That 9-3 record is super shiny. The Dragons will send Conner Phillips (2.89 ERA, 13 Ks) to the mound against TBD. Elly De La Cruz took a day off last night. I'm expecting he'll play tonight.

The Low A Daytona Tortugas evened their seasonal record at 6-6 last night. They send out ace hurler Juliuan Aguiar. 14 Ks and a clean record otherwise indicates some real dominance so far for the former 12th rounder. Nice to see, for sure. That 'Tuga team has six starters who've got ERAs at 2.53 or less this season. Two haven't been scored upon at all. Their overall team ERA is 2.99 with an 11.4 K-9 against 7.5 H/9 and 3.8 BB/9. None of those numbers, surprisingly, lead the league.

    Well, this isn't good...

Louisville trails 3-2. Ronnie Dawson's got a couple of hits. Lorenzo Cedrola has a hit and a steal. Honestly, why not try Dawson at this point? What do they have to lose?

Chattanooga's on the smiling side of the scoreboard, bottom of the 6th and up 2-1. Four scattered hits inclu Isiah Gilliam's 2nd HR. Brandon Williamson went 4 IP with 5 BBs (woof), 6 Ks, 2 H, and 1 ER.

Dayton is getting beaten badly, 7-3 with a more threatening. Allan Cerda has a couple of hits. So does McGarry. Both have homered. (Back to back in the 4th inning.) That's McGarry's 4th. Might be time to move him up to AA. Phillips had 8 K in 4.2 IP, but gave up 4 BB, only 3 H, and 5 ER. Woof. It's gotten worse for the pen.

Daytona is also getting beaten. They're down to their last ABs, 4-1. Gus Steiger has a couple of hits. Austin Hendrick has one-- but he's Ked two times too. Aguiar gave up 3 ER in 4 IP. Arij Fransen then came on and gave up one hit in 4 innings as they continue to piggyback starts.

Tough sledding on the 4/23 Mace Minor League Player of the Day award. Not much in the way of standouts.

Ronnie Dawson led the ladder with three hits, but all of them were singles. And the Bats lost.

Allan Cerda went 2-3 with a 2B and a HR.

Alex McGarry continues to swing a potent stick, with a 2-4 night that included a 2B and a HR.

Brandon Williamson went 4 innings of one-ER baseball but issued 5 BBs. And he committed an error.

Isiah Gilliam also went for two hits with one of them being a HR in a win.

Arij Fransen pitched 4 innings of one-hit shutout baseball as the piggyback starter with an ineffective Julian Aguiar. But only 2 K?

Who deserves it, RedsZone? Let's go with popularity on this one. Guy with the most votes by, say, the start of the first game today?

The 4/22 Mace Memorial Minor League Player of the Day is, by popular decree, Allan Cerda.
