    5/5 Minor League Scores

Louisville and Indianapolis is already underway, and the Bats are once again leading 4-3. It's the top of the 5th inning. Lorenzo Cedrola has driven the Bat offense so far, with two hits including his 2nd HR of the year. Bernardo Flores is pitching for Louisville. The Bats are 10-16 and might end up taking this series, a season first.

Lookouts and Trash Pandas go at it tonight at 7:35. Chattanooga got out the lumber last night. Chattanooga players in the top 10 of the league right now for respective categories include:

    - Doubles: McLain, Gilliam, Hopkins (tied 10th)
    - Triples: Matt McLain (1st)
    - Home Runs: McLain (4), Hopkins (5), Gilliam (8)
    - RBI: Hopkins (1st), McLain (4)
    - Stolen bases: Siani, McLain, Hopkins (tied 8th)
    - Walks: Siani (6)
    - Batting average: Chuckie Robinson (3)
    - Slugging: McLain (4), Gilliam (9)
    - OPS: McLain (5)
    - ERA: Mike Byrne (tied 1st)
    - WHiP: Byrne (7)
    - H/9: Stevie Branche (4), Byrne (5)
    - K/9: Ricky Karcher (2), Byrne (7), Nutoff (8), Julio Pinto (9)

Dayton took a twinbill last night. They're in first place in their division by a fairly substantial margin-- 7 games. I'm not saying the Dragons are going to the playoffs, but you may want to make sure your babysitter's available if you're a Dragon season-ticket holder. I'm low-key hoping they outdraw the Reds the rest of the way. James Proctor toes the rubber tonight.

Alex McGarry leads the league in home runs. That's not really shocking, I realize. He's also 5th in RBI. Elly De La Cruz is tied for 7th in stolen bases. Allan Cerda is 7th in walks. McGarry is third in slugging. Wolforth is tied for 10th. McGarry is 5th in OPS.

That's not nearly as impressive as the pitching portion of the team. Dragons hurlers in the top 10 of specific categories include:

    - Wins: Andrew Abbot and Frainger Aranguren (tied for 1st)
    - ERA: Manuel Cachut, Joe Boyle, and Franger Aranguren (tied for 1st), Abbott (10)
    - IP: Abbott (9)
    - Strikeouts: Abbott (3), Connor Phillips (7), Boyle (10)
    - H/9: Boyle (1), Cachut (8)
    - K/9: Carson Rudd (5), Abbot (8), Boyle (9)

You could make a convincing argument that Andrew Abbott has been the best starter in the Midwest League and Joe Boyle has been the second-best. (Or vice versa.) Nice to see, that.

The 10-13 Daytona Tortugas take on the Jupiter Hammerheads at 7:05. Hunter Parks gives it a go. Austin Hendrick hit an inside the park homer last night, his 5th. That ties him for 5th in the league, three behind the league lead. That's pretty much the offensive bright spot for the squad. Jay Allen is second in the league in stolen bases and has a top 10 OBP. Jamal O'Guinn is also top 10 in OBP, though he's only had a handful of PAs. The Daytona pitching is also pretty average. Dennis Boatman still has a clean slate a month after the season began. He's also leading the league in saves. That's about it.

We're going to extras in Indianapolis.

Ashton Creal started the 9th with a bunt single, then stole second base and scampered to third on a ground out. After a pop out to leave the Bats down to their last out, Cristian Santana came through with a single to tie the game at 5.

Only two games on the docket tonight. One, as seen in earlier posts, has been suspended until tomorrow. The other, in Dayton, was postponed to tomorrow as well.

That leaves Daytona and Chattanooga as the only dance partners on the night.

    Daytona just won 10-0.

Austin Hendrick had two hits including his 6th HR of the season. Hunter Parks went four, allowing 2 H, 2 BB, and 4 K. Gus Steiger had three hits in a 3-4 night with a triple, his 6th SB, and a walk. Jamal O'Guin had a couple of hits too, as did Ronny Reyes.

    Good night all around.

Chattanooga blows one late, losing 3-2. McLain and Siani had a hit, a stolen base, and a walk apiece. Urbaez hit his 1st HR of the season.
