    5/4 Minor League Scores

May the Fourth Be With You.

Juliuan Aguiar's been lights out most of the season for Daytona. That 2.12 ERA would normally be the best of the day, but not today. Today, he's fourth in line in ERA. Perhaps fifth, in terms of interest and helium. Lots of pitchers in the system to follow.

Dayton got rained out yesterday. Today doesn't look all that great either. We'll see. Joe Boyle goes in Game One. Bryce Bonnin is scheduled to go in the other. That's a whole lotta prospect to watch. Color me excited. Remember, they'll only go seven. I'm hoping for a no-hitter.

Chattanooga's offense forgot to show up yesterday. Their pitching wasn't much better. Maybe it's better today. They need this game to stick close to the Trash Pandas. I think Brandon Williamson goes today. If so, he needs a gem-- and to stop walking people. Speaking of, yesterday, Lookout pitchers walked 11. That's... a lot.

Louisville starts Luis Castillo, perhaps his last rehab assignment. Let's hope all goes well. To say the Reds need him is to practice some serious understatement. The Bats play early-- maybe they get this one in.

Ronnie Dawson hit a first inning HR, and it stood up for the entire game. The Bats win, 1-0.

This Castillo kid might be something. 4.1 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, and 7K. Maybe he should join the parent club? 76 pitches, 48 strikes.

Cristian Santana went 3-3 with 3 singles.

The Reds must have heard me complaining-- they've got their top High A prospects all in the game.

    In order:

    Jose Torres 2B
    Elly De La Cruz SS
    Allan Cerda CF
    Alex McGarry DH
    Rece Hinds RF
    Mat Nelson C

That's a lot of thump in that lineup.

Now watch them get shut out...

    EDIT: Nevermind.

    Rece Hinds goes yard.

    Dragons up, 1-0.

Joe Boyle has gone two so far-- three walks, one hit, 2 Ks.

Down three heading into the last inning, Dayton gets them back on doubles by Torres and De La Cruz. It's 6-6 heading to extras.

McLain and Siani have both popped solo homers for Chattanooga, love to see that.

McLain doing a good job of assuaging my worries about his power.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

6 Unearned runs on 2 de La Cruz errors. Hinds 3 for 4 with 2 HR. Nelson 2 for 4 with a double. Torres 1 for 3 with a SF.

Another month of this and time for a promotion to AAA for both IMO.

My hottake of the early season: Hinds is never going to hit for enough average to make it to the bigs.

    Dayton wins, 8-7.

Rece Hinds was the offensive star-- 2 HR and a single (plus the game-winning run scored on a wild pitch). Martinez and Nelson had two hits as well.

Tenorowicz is 3-3 and seems to be on one of his hot streaks.

    Lookouts up, 4-1.

Yeah he strikes me as a prospect to sell while he's still got some tantalizing appeal.

If he somehow gets to an .750-.800 OPS this year I’m absolutely trying to trade him this offseason.

Matt McLain went deep again. That is number 7 for him for the season.
