    5/15 Minor League Scores

May's already half over. Kids everywhere are dreaming of summer. So are teachers. Parents are checking to see when and where they might vacation-- or if they can.

If you're already on vacation in Daytona, Dayton, Chattanooga, or Louisville, you may want to try out the old ballpark. There are some interesting pitchers going.

At 1:05, the Bats turn to Mike Minor, former All-Star. He's thrown more than 200 innings since that All-Star berth and compiled an ERA north of 5.00. Woof. He's pitching for the Bats, at any rate. Maybe Joey Votto will play again. That'd be cool. He was perfect yesterday.

Chattanooga has Brandon Williamson going. He was not great in his last start-- couldn't seem to find the strike zone. That's been a season-long struggle for the former Aggie. He pitches at 2:15.

Dayton has Princeton alum James Proctor pitching at 1:05. The Dragons have struggled lately, stumbling to a 5-5 record over their last 10, but are still head and shoulders ahead of the teams in their division. Dayton's up 3.5 on Great Lakes. Proctor's only pitched 17.1 innings this year, but he's been solid overall. A penchant for nibbling has limited those innings. He's not striking anyone out yet, as his 6.4 K rate would suggest. That'll have to get better.

Finally, Daytona has the earliest game of a slate of day games. They start at high noon. The Tugas have struggled to string together hits lately. Julian Aguiar toes the rubber for Daytona. He's been more than acceptable. That 2.45 ERA looks really good. So does the 0.846 WHiP. Hardly any walks or hits, obviously. An 11.6 K rate too. The 21-year-old looks like a nice signing so far. He's definitely one to watch.

    Re: 5/15 Minor League Scores

Brandon Williamson FB was decent with good location. Gave up line shot HR and rocket double high of the wall in CF in the 1st. His breaking ball looked very good, got some K's with it. Walked in a run in the 2nd. K'ed next batter.

Williamson had solid outing was roughed up in the first inning but pitched solid in his last few starts. He's Lodolo light but a good SP. Finished with 91 pitches.

Robbie Tenerowicz hit a 1-2 2 run bomb in the 3rd.

James Proctor another big boy hard thrower, 6-5 215. Was working on his hard breaking ball mostly. If he can harness that thing he maybe a good SP. He's at about 60/40 with it.

Elly De La Cruz 2 run HR was a laser that hit off the back gate in RF.

    Re: 5/15 Minor League Scores

Daytona got shut out 8-0. It was a butt-whooping all around. Only Jamal O'Guinn did much of anything-- he had three hits on the day.

Dayton won in a slugfest, 10-8. Cerda had a couple of hits, as did Rogers. Creal and EDLC had three apiece. De La Cruz smacked two doubles and his 5th HR. Perhaps he's getting hot? Over the last month, he's been a .293/ 354/ .547/ .900 guy. Over the last week, he's been even better: .308/ .357/ .654/ 1.011. Now's the time to buy that De La Cruz stock.

Lookouts took care of the Mississippi Braves, 7-2. Multi-hit games from Gilliam (what else is new?), Robinson, and Free. Tenerowicz hit his 4th HR of the year. Gilliam now has an OPS of .911. Robinson, a catcher acquired in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 Draft a couple of years ago from Houston. is hitting .302 with a .714 OPS. He supposedly has a bit a pop, so this is quite the nice development.

Louisville loses, 6-2. Cedrola had two hits, including his 3rd HR of the year. He's at .302 for the year, with a .753 OPS.
