The Reds just went 7-3. Let’s say they do just a little worse than that over their next 80 games and win 60% of them. They would be sitting at exactly 1 game over .500 with 45 games to go.

After beginning the season with 31 games without a 6-inning start, the most since 1893, Reds starters have thrown at least 6.0 innings in 3 straight starts and 5 of their last 6 starts.
Reds starters have also given up only 5 hits in their last 23 1/3 innings.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Injuries, covid, injuries, covid... What if we finally have everyone healthy and they stay healthy throughout the season? You just never know what can or will transpire in baseball. In 2005 the Houston Astros began the season 15-30 and made it to the WS. You just never know. Go Reds!

On June 14, 1974 Nolan Ryan threw 235 pitches in 13 innings striking out 19 and walking 10 in a 15 inning win for the Angels. His next start, on 3 days rest, he pitched 6 scoreless innings against the Yankees. Hunter Greene's arm will be ok.

Sorry CroselyVet but, I meant to reply to Roy's post after I saw your reply to the same post. My bad.

Reds play 15 of their next 17 games at home
(they've played the fewest home games in baseball so far).
14 of their next 17 games are against teams that currently have a losing record
(only 3 teams have fewer games against teams under .500).

It's the journey that we're taken on that makes a 162-game season fun. Sure, we all like to see a good W-L record, but there's a lot more to baseball memories than wins and losses. Scooter's 4 HR game , Miley no-hitter, Votto's consecutive game HR rampage, etc... Who knows what will happen on any given night?
