Agreed. I consider a month from now soon. It’ll give Dunn time to rehab and Williamson to perform in AAA.

Maybe. But if you wait too long you may have to settle.

Agreed, if they get what they want, they should hold out for more. I doubt they get close to what they want for anyone.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Knowing the Reds. Whoever they trade Castillo to. They will force them to take Moose.
So the return will make the Cueto trade look good in comparison.

If Castillo is going to be the best starting pitcher on the market at the trade deadline, the Reds absolutely need to get opposing teams to compete against one another for the best offer. Historically, Reds GMs haven't seemed to be very good at doing that, and just jumping at the first offer that they like.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

The only 2 other pitchers that can be said anywhere near the same breath as Castillo are Montas and Mahle. Given the Reds control one of those assets and there will likely be more than 3 teams involved, I think the Reds can wait it out n

That is my fear. It is a test of ownership. Do they try for the best return or do they water down the return in order to dump salary.

That's my fear as well, but a small piece of me is optimistic that the Reds have learned their lesson. This market is set up perfectly for the Reds to bring back a massive haul for Castillo. I'm rooting for some of these fringe teams like Texas to go on a winning streak and get into the bidding. I would be disappointed if the Reds dont bring back an organization's top prospect that is close to knocking on the door to the bigs.

Whatever the return ends up being for Castillo, you can be assured of this: The Reds fans will be upset they didn't get more, and the other teams fans will be upset what they gave up for Castillo.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

One pitch later, Castillo wriggled out of the inning with a double-play ball, nabbing a quality start in the Reds’ 2-1 loss to the Blue Jays on Friday night at Rogers Centre.

“That’s really what he does,” manager David Bell said of his ace, who logged six strong frames and yielded two runs on seven hits to go with no walks and five strikeouts in the Interleague series opener. “Any time he gets into trouble, he always has the ability, he has the stuff, he has the competitiveness to get out of any situation.

“It’s part of being a great pitcher. One of the best in baseball. He’s a pitch away, always, to get a big strikeout, get a big ground-ball out [or] double play. He’s a pleasure to watch pitch and to have out there.”

Perhaps the Reds take even more pleasure in that now, after Castillo began the season on the injured list with a right shoulder strain. The 29-year-old had no prior injury history, and he’d never missed a big league start.

Castillo’s impressive durability helped him earn a workhorse label. Since his debut in June 2017, no other Cincinnati pitcher has more starts (126), innings (723), wins (40) or strikeouts (782).

This year, Castillo (0-2, 4.60 ERA) only has three starts on his ledger. It’s probably too early for any sweeping declarations about how he’s fared, but the hard-throwing righty is building from one outing to the next -- tossing 4 2/3 innings, then five, and now six -- and picking up confidence along the way.

Bell noted that Friday’s version vs Toronto was “the best [Castillo’s] had since he’s been back,”
