I only listed originally drafted/signed/developed Reds pitchers. Caldwell was a SF draft/developed pitcher.

Then I realized Rawley was acquired for Santo Alcala and Caudill for Joel Youngblood.

I just know that after Marge arrived and put a scorched earth to the scouting department, the Reds minor league development has been below average except for that brief late 2000 period.

I still think Andujar is the one that hurts more than any of the others.

That's somewhat of an oxymoron though. If you're getting ground balls, you're not missing bats. And if you're missing bats, you're not getting ground balls.

Aramis Garcia caught his best game.

    Nah...

He has given up 0 runs in 12.1 innings throwing to Tyler Stephenson with game scores of 70 and 64 and 7 runs in 16 innings throwing to Aramis Garcia with game scores of 69, 48 and 32

Be a strikeout pitcher who, when contact is made, gets ground balls primarily. This was Ashcraft's style in the minors. He had a k/9 rate of 10.0.

The bump up in Ks nice to see and not surprising in the start last night. Fighting to eight innings pitched great to see too.
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

I always felt he was a bit of a mirage created by those great Cardinals defensive teams of the 80’s.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

Yes. Very encouraging performance. Great to see it. 8 Ks and still was able to get through 8 innings on just 104 pitches. Statistically there have been more dominant outings but that was the best start of the year by a Reds pitcher IMO.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Ashcraft turning into a legit MLB starter has been the best development of the year so far for the Reds.

Especially in 1977 when he went 5-0 against the Reds. The Astros really dominated them that year winning 13 of 18 games.

The Reds rookie starters should ease the way to trades of Mahle and Castillo. Three advanced young pitchers is a strong beginning to a new rotation.

They will need to support these guys with hitting, defense, and bullpen. Hopefully they won’t just use three young starters to sell tickets. Few starting pitchers can do it alone.

If hitting, defense and bullpen is all that is needed then the Reds have it covered

Changing Catchers on Ashcraft today was a bad idea.
