    6/3 Minor League Scores

Louisville Deck McGuire at Gwinnett. Those with tickets in the OF may want to bring their gloves.

Chattanooga starts Brandon Williamson against Rocket City at home. 7:15. Williamson's been much better recently-- his May saw him cut down on the BBs and lower his ERA as a result. Should that continue, how much longer will he stay in AA? Hopefully, not long. AAA Louisville needs a solid SP now that Ashcraft has moved on, and Williamson should be there already.

Speaking of moving on, Connor Phillips is making a mockery of High A. It's high time he (and Boyle and Bonnin-- at least) be moved to AA. Perhaps the Reds are waiting for the draft or the All-Star break. If so, fine. The Dragons face the South Bend Cubs.

Daytona's already been postponed for the day.

A couple of very good pitching performances are in the making down on the farm.

Chattanooga's Brandon Williamson has thrown three hitless innings with one one and 3 Ks.

Dayton's Connor Phillips has gone 4 innings so far, allowing just one hit and no walks. He has fanned 4.

Jonathan Willems has hit a 2-run shot (2) for Daytons. Allan Cerda has tacked on a solo shot (8).

Dayton wins. Again. Their record stands at 33-15.

    Connor Phillips works into the 7th inning: 6.1 IP, 3 H,2 E, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K.

Braxton Roxby checks in with 1.2 scoreless frames in just his second appearance of the season.

Willems and Cerda each went deep.

Chattanooga just scored 3 times in the bottom of the 7th to jump ahead 4-1.

    Brandon Williamson goes a strong 6 innings: 7 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 7 K.

Stevie Branche is on in relief.

Mike Siani has singled twice and stolen his 26th base on the season.

    Re: 6/3 Minor League Scores

Red farm teams went unbeaten on the night.

    Daytona was postponed.

Louisville scored in the 9th to win it, 3-2. Junel Querencuto went 4-4 and was one base short of a cycle: a single, two doubles, and his 1st HR of the season. Querencuto, injured early in the season, has seen his BA jump all the way to .299 and his OPS is now .840. McGuire gave up two runs in 4.2 IP, but the bullpen was nails. Dauri Moreta got the win-- he's pitched much better and rediscovered much of his adequacy from last season while toiling in AAA. Might deserve another look-see as organizational depth later this year as the Reds deal away their veteran relief corps. Lorenzo Cedrola had a couple of hits. So did Cristian Santana. Barrero went oh-her with 3 K's. Neither Schrock nor Fraley played.

Chattanooga destroyed the Trash Pandas, 10-1. Siani, as others have pointed out, had three hits. He's been in an extended slump lately, so it's good to see him break out a bit. A couple of weeks of HR, SB, 4 RBI would be pretty cool to see. Francisco Urbaez had a couple of hits, including a HR. He struggled early this year, but has heated up with the weather. He's at .277 on the season, with a .351 OBP and a .757 OPS. This victory puts the Lookouts in third place, two games behind Rocket City in the Southern North League (yeah, really-- that's its name). Brandon Williamson went six innings giving up only one run, one hit, three walks, and seven K's. That'll work. Now, Mr. Williamson, if you could continue to doing that for about five starts or so, I'm guessing Krall and company will move you up to AAA. His AA ERA has dropped to 3.64 on the season. In AA (over two seasons), he's gone 118 innings, given up 104 hits. He has an 11.3 K rate and 3.9 BB%. That's across 23 starts. Maybe that'll work moving forward.

Dayton wins, 5-2. They're 33-15, 6.5 games up on second place in their division and 7-3 in their last 10. Only five hits on the game for the Dragons, two for Johnathan Willems. De La Cruz had a single. Cerda had a HR. The story of the game was Connor Phillips. 6.1 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 6 K. 2.57 ERA this season. He threw 90 pitches on the day, as the Reds seem to be trying to stretch him out a bit. (He gave up his ER on his last batter.)

Barrero, McCLain, and Hendrick sure are helping the pitchers’ K rates.
