    No, but it was just as nerdy. July 3rd, 2007. The premier of Transformers starring Shia LeBouf. The wife had just graduated from Ohio U and was driving home the last day of her lease. She called her friend (my cousins now ex-girlfriend) and asked what she was up to “going to see Transformers with my bf and all his dumb cousins, want to come?” “….I guess….” I found out my cousins’s gf’s friend, whom I had never met and didn’t know existed until that moment was coming and made sure the one open seat in the theater was next to me. Normally I would have never done something like that, especially for someone I had never met, just kind of had a gut feeling I should. She sat down right as the movie was starting. She was wearing a pink Ohio University shirt. The second I saw her I realized my gut was right that day. I didn’t know what to say so just blurted out “Hi, I’m Mike, you went to OU?” She rolled her eyes and said “yea…” next night was a big bar night and on the drive home after the movie I called my cousin’s gf and said “hey, all my friends are going to Bier Stube tomorrow night, you should come and bring your friend” she said ok, next night my now wife and I were locked in talking for hours and the rest, as they say, is history.
    What would you say.....ya do here?

    It was fate... but you could have colored it up more... “Hi, I’m Mike, you went to OU? I once passed out at the CI after an Appalachian Deathride show.”

    Love to see Votto go if he keeps hitting like he has the last 2 weeks but you know Pujols is going to be picked - although he could go as a DH - Goldschmidt, Freeman and Alonso will go. Bell is having a nice season for the Nats and he might be their only representative. Same for Chavis with the Bucs and Cooper for MIA. I could see Diaz going but his last 2 outings have been shaky. Be a nice story if he and his brother make it.

    Farmer is 13th in the National League in RBIs, 5th among middle infielders. Since he'll be batting 5th in our lineup for the foreseeable future, it's not out of the realm of possibility he cracks the top 10 overall. I actually predicted he would be it before the start of the season.

    My money is Castillo will make it, albeit with a losing record.

    Going totally off of memory but I want to say Drury was a pretty good prospect for the Diamondbacks…

    He was in the top 100 overall.

    I think it will be Votto. The second part of All-Star is "Star", and he fits the bill. He has the name recognition. If he continues to hit like he has for the last couple of weeks (and there's no reason to believe that he can't), then he will deserve it, anyway. And if he does cool off, then his selection might be the equivalent of a Lifetime Achievement Award. (Not that there's anything wrong with that, either.)

    Sure has shushed the "Is Joey Votto washed" crowd. Last 28 days .306/.419/.667/1.082. I agree with you - it'll probably be Votto if he continues this pace.
    99% of all numbers only tell 33% of the story so when looking at the numbers remember that numbers is plural...

    Yea, I think it will be either Votto or Castillo.. just due to name recognition if nothing else. Although they are both having good seasons, IMO (especially compared to the rest of the team)
    [Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

    Bobby Nightengale
    @nightengalejr

    Tyler Stephenson is fourth among NL catchers in the first All-Star Game voting update. Brandon Drury is sixth at third base and Joey Votto is seventh at first base. No other Reds in the top 10 at their positions.

    Unless a last-minute replacement is added to the NL roster (highly doubtful), this will be the first time since 2009 that the Reds have had only one All-Star. (Francisco Cordero)
