    6/10 Minor League Recap

Starting Pitchers: A lot to like here.

    Louisville - Justin Nicolino - very good start: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 2 K.
    Chattanooga - Carson Spiers - start o' the night: 5.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K.
    Dayton - Connor Phillips - shaky first, then nails: 5 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 6 K.
    Daytona - Reynardo Cruz - sizzling, but wild: 4.1 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 2 K.

Relief Pitchers: Pretty much all good. (We won't mention the bad).

Louisville - Eddy Demurias (2), Jared Solomon (1)and Kyle Zimmer (1) combined for 4 shutout innings, allowing one hit and no walks.
Chattanooga - Andy Fisher 1.1 scoreless innings.
Dayton - Manuel Chacutt 3.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 K. 1.69 ERA for the season. But, he is 25 in High-A. Donovan Benoit gave up one unearned run over 3 frames.
    Daytona - Julian Aguiar dazzled for 4.2 innings. 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K.

    Hitter: More miss than hit.

Louisville - Lorenzo Cedrolla single, two doubles. Jose Barrero two singles. Mark Koloszvary double, walk. Schrock, Solano and India did not participate.
Chattanooga - 4 baserunners all night. Three singles, one walk. Blech.
Dayton - Alex McGarry single, two walks. Allan Cerda two singles, walk. Johnathan Willems two singles. Garrett Woolforth single, walk. (Rece Hinds did garner two outfield assists).
Daytona - Jay Allen II two singles. Ruben Ibarra two singles. (Ibarra had a slow start to the season, but since 5/1 he is OPSing 1.170). Jack Rogers single, double. Austin Callahan single, double. Fidel Castro single, walk.
    Chattanooga -

    Re: 6/10 Minor League Recap

Ibarra's been on a tear for about 5 1/2 weeks. He's 23, so I could see him move up. He's probably tied to Alex McGarry, who's also old for his level and probably needs to be challenged with the more difficult level.

But McGarry's a potent bat in the middle of a potent lineup, and Ibarra's a cypher. You don't know what you might get with him.

I could see both move up at the halfway point of the season.

In fact, here's my guess as to who might move up after the first halves are finished:

    Low A
    Pitchers
    Tanner Cooper
    Hunter Parks
Comments: Neither is tearing up the league, but both are have very, very good seasons. They're older for the league and Dayton has a bunch of guys who could use the challenge of a more difficult league. They get the bump because of circumstance. Sam Benschoter could also garner some consideration.

    Hitters
    Ruben Ibarra
Comment: Ibarra would play primarily 1B and some DH for the Dragons. He's an interesting bat, IMO, who was dominant in college ball. I like him as a secondary prospect who might end up a bat-first power guy capable of pinch-hitting at the major league level.

    High A
    Pitchers
    Joe Boyle
    Connor Phillips
Comment: IMO, Boyle deserves the bump more than anyone in the system. He's an easy call, IMO. Phillips is a bit of a 'tweener, as are Roa and Bonnin. Both Roa and Bonnin stay in Dayton due to injuries-- both need innings. Boyle needs to show what he has. So, perhaps, does Phillips, who could vault into the Top 100 prospects with a good showing over two leagues.

    Hitters
    Alex McGarry
    Elly De La Cruz
Comment: If De La Cruz can OPS 900, I think he's gone. We'll see if that's what happens. McGarry should be gone regardless. He'd help Chattanooga, especially with Byrd gone to AAA.

    Double A
    Pitchers
    Ryan Nutoff
    Pedro Garcia
    Andy Fisher
    Julio Pinto
    Brandon Williamson
Comment: Lots of relief help for Louisville. Everyone of these guys is old for the level and pitched relatively well. Aggressive moves up might unlock some help in 2023. Williamson as a depth SP prospect in 2023 strikes me as a solid move, but that bump might depend on who gets dealt-- and what they receive in return.

    Hitters
    Isiah Gilliam
    Matt McLain
    Ivan Johnson
Comment: Want to get more top Minor League Free Agents? Promote the ones you have who do a good job. Gilliam has hit very well and should be given a bit of a push, a la Tenerowicz. McLain might get a push if De La Cruz does. He's got the OPS and has exhibited the pop. He needs to improve his K and BA issues-- two items that were supposed to be strengths, according to scouting reports. Johnson has quietly been solid since coming back from injury. AAA could use his bat, especially when all those injured Reds move up. He'd be fine depth for 2023, in case they have another rash of injury.

    Triple A
    Pitchers
None, as of now. Quite a few could be released though.

    Hitters
    Jose Barrero
    Max Schrock
    Jake Fraley
    Jonathan India
    Donovan Solano
Comment: All need to be in the majors, obviously. I'd release Aquino (for Fraley) and trade Reynolds or Farmer (for Barrero), trade Drury (for India), release Moran (for Solano), and trade Pham (for Schrock). YMMV.
