I see what you meant. I understand that and you may be right

We can get all the young talent in the world, but this ownership group is not going to let that talent age long enough to have Astros or Braves type success. It will be dismantled before it gets to that point unless the youngsters reach full impact sooner than expected.

Ron, Totally off topic here. But it looks like you like I do have a sleeping problem. Going on the times you post. This at 4 am other times I saw you were awake at 1am. My thing has been falling asleep around 1230 AM waking up between 3-4 AM. Then I get sleepy around 8 AM sleep a hour or two. Then feel terrible the rest of the day. Mine is due to health. Not being able to work anymore. Therefore not tired enough to sleep 6-8 hours consecutively. So I get 4-5 hours a day but split and not consecutively.
Sorry if I am being noisy.

Re: Nick Krall: Aug.2nd Trade Deadline

My trade deadline fantasy is that the Reds are sold on July 15th and the new ownership group immediately fires Krall and ceases any trades until the new GM can see what is in the organization and what it needs. This fantasy even acknowledges the Reds may miss out on some prospect out there by holding on to a Mahle/Castillo for a bit too long, but the current group would like sell the current Reds for a bag of magic beans, so I'm willing to gamble on standing pat.
    Where we gonna go?

I can the scenario where Moose gets packaged with a SP for more reallocation of assets

I don't think the sale of a team has ever taken place mid season.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

Re: Nick Krall: Aug.2nd Trade Deadline

The deadline is Aug. 2, and general manager Nick Krall has already been fielding and making calls.

“One way or another, we’ll talk to everybody," Krall said. "You’re going to see where everybody is and see what matches up and see what makes the most sense, and go from there.”
Usually the Reds don't break out the line about making calls and gauging the market until after a GM meeting or trade deadline fails to bring trades. Nice they are breaking out the platitudes early this year.
“The guys we've had for the most part have been serviceable at this level.”

Krall is in the best GM shape of his life! I heard he added a cutting quip to his trade offers.

He starts every call with "Let's find a slobberknocker!"

    Lopez (IF)

I'm not ready to give up on Aquino. Lots of power, has speed, is a very good right fielder. The Reds need to get him help. Just my two cents.

I think your fantasy team probably wins 70 games.

I’d love to flip Minor for someone even more expensive and useless.

    More expensive - doable
More useless - difficult but still doable
More expensive AND more useless - Probably around the same likelihood as the Reds winning the World Series in 2012

Re: Nick Krall: Aug.2nd Trade Deadline

    2 trade ideas

    1. To LAD:

    Castillo
    Pham
    Naquin
    Moose

    To CIN:
    May
    Pages
    Vargas
    Bellinger

LA gets 1.5 years of Castillo. Swaps bad contracts Bellinger for Moose while giving the Dodgers viable options in the OF to offset prospect costs.

    2. To SD
    Mahle
    Drury
    Farmer

    To CIN

    Campusano
    Wood
    Kerr
    Another prospect

SD gets a Machado fill in. A better Tatis fill in and a bump to the rotation.

These trades net quality prospects that could play in Cincinnati this year or break camp with the club next year

    Potential rotation
    Greene
    Lodolo
    Ashcraft
    May
    Dunn

    Potential lineup:

    C:Campusano
    1b/DH Stephenson/Votto
    2b: India
3b: Vargas (move to 1b after Votto leaves)
    SS: Barerro
    CF: Bellinger/Almora
    RF: Pages
    LF: FA or trade

Seems fairly realistic to me and doesn’t position the team poorly going into the off-season. Sign an OF and some pen help and I’d roll the dice with that.

How about the Reds send their entire roster to the Dodgers in exchange for their roster?
