Northwestern planning on tearing down Ryan Field and building an $800M stadium in its place. Financed with private money it'll have 15K fewer seats.

So dumb. Or ya know they could just make a couple less million from ridiculously long media timeouts.
What would you say.....ya do here?

Looks great. Ryan Field is a gloried high school stadium.

I wish Ohio State would build a new stadium.

I wonder where they will play in the meantime.

Soldier Field? The Bears are looking to get a new stadium as well.

Less plays per game is asinine.
    Go Gators!

You want to replace one of the most iconic stadiums?

I get what he’s saying. It is an iconic grand dame of a stadium with so much history. And the game day experience is a lot of fun. But from a purely watching the game standpoint, it’s pretty lousy. Probably 1/2 the seats are too far from the field to discern much. It would go a long way if they’d just put seats in the whole dang stadium. Having been to probably 100+ games there, the novelty of an Ohio State game has long since worn off. Getting about 18 inches of an aluminum bench in the nosebleeds isn’t that great. And spending $85 for it or whatever the going price is. With most games televised now, I’ll just stay home and watch the game from a comfortable couch.

    Absolutely.

    Roy basically hit on it.

It’s old and it feels old when you are there. I love OSU and going to games, but it’s a bit of a chore. You wanna get some food and go to the bathroom? Great you just missed half a quarter at least. The seats are wildly uncomfortable and squished together.

It doesn’t need to be an nfl stadium, but the experience is so far off modern stadiums, it’s almost comical.

The games are getting longer despite not adding more TV timeouts - https://www.cbssports.com/college-fo...ning-the-game/

I'd start with letting the clock run after first downs before I'd treat incompletions like running the ball out of bounds.

    How about renovate?

I’m not an Ohio State fan but it is a pretty iconic stadium in Columbus. People grow up dreaming of wanting to play in that stadium for purposes of nostalgia.

Some places shouldn’t be replaced. Wrigley, Fenway, Lambeau Field. Just keep making updates to it over time. If seating is the biggest problem, that seems like an easy fix.

Kinda stupid to make those comments when you are 1-3 and your head coach was already canned.

The guy who made the comments is not in any way involved with the program at this point. He's a former assistant coach (like 5 years ago).
