According to Steamer, if you dropped him into a major league lineup right now, he's be 12% better than league average offensively the rest of the season.
Sounds like we have a potential future 1b/DH.

Really great night far for Andrew Abbott. Just had a no-no broken up in the 5th. His line tonight: 5IP, 2H, 1R, 0BB, 5K. Only 66 pitches so not sure why they pulled him so early but he looked really sharp. De La Cruz making it look easy again tonight. 2-3 so far with two doubles, 1R, 3RBI.

1-5 in the order did all the damage for the Lookouts tonight. Siani walked 4 times scoring two runs and swiping bags #40 and 41. McLain had a hit, a BB, a SB and a run scored. Elly went 2-5 with 3 rbi. Strand had a sac fly and 2 HBP while Hopkins had a double, HR #15 and 3 rbi. I want to see Marte added to this ridiculous lineup before the season ends.

Javi Rivera has been bumped up to Dayton. His first start: 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1ER, 2 BB, 7 K. Nice debut.

A pretty good night for some of the key farmhands:

    Spencer Steer, Bat: 2-4, 2B
Brandon Williamson, Bat: 6 IP, H, R, ER, 3 BB, 3 K (he should take Zuech's next start)
Matt McLain, Lookout: 3-5, 2B, HR, 3 RBI
    EDLC, Lookout: 3-4, 2 2Bs, BB, RBI
    Chase Petty, Dragon: 4.2 IP, 5 H, R, ER, BB, 7 K
    Noelvi Marte, Dragon: 1-3, 2B, 2 BBs

Big nights out of Siani, Jose Torres, and Mat Nelson as well, although not sure they are in the key farmhand category.

That's two excellent outings in a row for Petty in Dayton. He's the #1 pitching prospect in our system IMO. Petty's last 3 starts in Dayton have seen him put up a 3 BB 17 K line.

They are keeping Petty on a pretty tight pitch count leash right now. Not sure he has pitched into the 5th inning of more than a couple of games this season. As young as he is, that’s probably not a bad idea.

It's interesting that they've moved him levels, but not upped his pitch count.

A 19-year-old holding his own in High A is all sorts of good news.

Of course, he hasn't won a game yet in his professional career, so... Bullpen or whatever. Meh.

    Re: 6/23 Odds and Ends

I wonder if Pedro Garcia has a chance to pull an Alexis Diaz type of under-the-radar move next year. I never hear anyone talk about him and he is 27 in Chattanooga. But his numbers have been pretty solid this year: 45.1 IP, 52K/17BB, 2.18 ERA, .204 OBA, only two HRs allowed.

    Anyone know anything about him?

    Re: 6/23 Odds and Ends

Chattanooga's first game is in the books: Lookouts win 4-1.

    EDLC singled and homered.
Joe Boyle 4 hitless innings, 5 walks, 3 strike outs.

In Louisville, through 7 innings. Spencer Steer 2 for 3, including home run number 15.
Cristian Santana homered (6) and walked twice.

Tyler Callihan has doubled and tripled for Dayton.
Jean Correa has now worked 7 innings for Daytona (across 3 games), and has allowed just 1 hit. However, he is 24. They have him listed at 6'1', 145.

Chattanooga's offense is so fun to watch. With few exceptions, Chattanooga's pitching is painful to watch.

    Re: 6/23 Odds and Ends

Javi Rivera is liking High-A ball so far. In just his second start for Dayton, Rivera has allowed no hits and no walks. One runner reached on an error. He has struck out 6.

Trash Bandit DH, Sonny Dichiara, is HUGE.

Noelvi Marte just went deep. That is his third homer as a Dragon. Dayton leads 2-0.

Daytona loses 5-0 in the first of two. All five runs came in the extra innings. Tanner Cooper went the first three, and pitched scoreless ball. Jose Acuna came on in relief and posted 4 more goose eggs, before imploding in the 8th.
Acuna retired the first 12 batters that he faced. His final line: 4.1 IP, 3 H, 0 BB, 6 K.

Lorenzo Cedrola is on a roll. He is 2 for 3 tonight, and is hitting .400 for the month of August.

I think his runner was from a HBP, but amazing outing by Rivera.

Rivera is finished for the night. You are correct, it was an HBP. I just saw that Torres made an error, and assumed incorrectly.

Rocket City has loaded the bases in each of the first two innings, and has just one run to show for it. Eduardo Salazar had hit 95 on the gun.
