    Re: Reds Trade Rumors

Free agents after the 2022 season (or earlier, if released):
    IF Brandon Drury
IF Colin Moran (unless he is called back up and offered arbitration, which is highly doubtful)
    IF Donovan Solano
    OF Tyler Naquin
OF Tommy Pham (mutual options are almost never picked up)
    LHP Ross Detwiler
    LHP Mike Minor
    RHP Hunter Strickland
LHP Justin Wilson (injured for the year, so it would be a salary dump)

Free agents after the 2023 season (or earlier, if non-tendered or released):
    1B Joey Votto
    IF Mike Moustakas
    OF Albert Almora
    RHP Luis Castillo
    RHP Luis Cessa
    RHP Tyler Mahle

I’m prepared to be absolutely underwhelmed by any return.

Which organization would be willing to part with those things in exchange for this ownership group?

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if they traded the entire roster and did a complete do over. Castillo, Mahle, and Stephenson are the only players we have that I feel comfortable saying are above average.

An actual rumor with names. It is from Jim Bowden, however:

Jennings wondered first if Boston could acquire Castillo in exchange for Top 100 prospect Nick Yorke, sinking top name Jeter Downs, and an additional piece. Instead, Bowden noted that any package for the right-hander would begin with Boston’s Triple-A power threat Triston Casas, as well as Helium Alert pitching prospect Brayan Bello.
That would be the Red Sox #2 and #4 prospects. Casas is rated #16 in all of MLB

If Boston wants Castillo, I want either Mayer or Casas and Bello back. Bowden's right. No interest in Yorke. He's supposed to have an amazing hit tool and he's batting 235 in High A this year.

    Re: Reds Trade Rumors

Bowden suggested Casas and Bello last week. Said it was a high price to pay for Boston and that he probably wouldn't do it, but that it would get a deal done.

I'd make that trade 100/100 times. Bello has been great this year and he's jumping up prospect boards.

The Cardinals are viewed by some rival execs as a favorite to get Oakland's Frankie Montas, because they have the most acute need -- and because it'd be tough for them to land Castillo or Mahle from the division-rival Reds.
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

Would appreciate if they acted quickly and paid a very steep price. Thanks in advance, Cardinals!

If that were to happen, the Reds would pretty much have zero competition on the pitching trade market. That bodes well.

Casas/Bello would be an interesting package for Castillo. Sign me up.
