    OTD 1973:
One strike from falling 12 games back of LA, 3rd string catcher Hal King hits game-winner.
Reds go 60-20 rest of way to win NL West.

I wasn't there but I was at my grandparents' house listening. I went nuts!!! Totally changed the course of the season.

Thanks for posting that call, Ron. I can remember precisely where I was in my grandparents' house when I was listening to that ninth inning. The old house is gone now but the memories of hearing those great calls by Al, Marty, and Joe and celebrating with my papaw remain as vivid as ever.

I was underneath the stadium lining up to go onto the field for banner day. We all went nuts when King hit that homer.

Who will be our Hal King tonight that will set us on course for a 60-20 stretch?

You know they say you shouldn’t live in the past, but the way this franchise has devolved into a mere shadow of its former self makes us all yearn for the days when winning mattered.

I still listen to random games back in the seventies with Marty and Joe on the call. I know, that's sad.

I've come to dread games started by Mike Minor.
