This organization’s offensive plans are the worst.

Max coming off injury and we are check swinging at stuff on first pitch in first inning

On July 4, 1979 , Juanquin Andujar and Ray Knight ignited some bench clearing fireworks at Riverfront . Andujar took exception to something Morgan said before the game and threw at Joe when he came to the plate. John McNamara told Reds' pitcher Bill Bonham to let Andujar know that "we're not gonna take that sh!t" and so Bonham buzzed one by Andujar's head. Knight and Andujar hurled insults across the diamond and it was on. Ray, who was never one to shy away from a good fight, got in a couple of blows to the face of Cesar Cedeno of the Astros. Ray and Joaquin were ejected from the game, which was won by Houston, who extended their lead in the NL West to 10 games.

On July 4, 1980 Nolan Ryan struck out the 3000th batter of his career at Riverfront Stadium. The batter that Ryan struck out for his 3000th K was the same player who was the victim of Bob Gibson's 3000th strikeout . Do you know who it was?

Did you know.... on July 4, 1989 Tom Browning came within 3 outs of becoming the first pitcher in the history of baseball to throw TWO perfect games. Anyone remember what Astros' batter ruined Browning quest for perfecto X 2 ?

I love reading the closed captioning on live events...

Instead of "hamate bone", which is what the announcer said, the captioning referred to "a broken handmade phone in his wrist".

Phillies on Browning not Astros. But this guy was a former Astro. Browning flirted with a no hitter another time. Gwynn broke it up. Browning said he had walked Gwynn twice and he wasn't going to walk him again. Had he walked him and gotten the no hitter. He said it wouldn't have felt like one with all the walks to Gwynn.

Cesar was my first favorite player as a kid. Bench was 2nd. Cesar I guess being 7 and left handed had a lo to do with it.
So I know pretty much every thing about Cesar. 1978 4th game of the season. I got to see Cesar hit the only HR he had with me being at the game. Mark Lemongello served it up. In 1977 I bought a broken bat of Cesar's at the 580 gift shop. In 2016 at a baseball card show at Moeller high school. I got him to sign the bat. We talked close to 10 minutes. Till the next person payed to get his autograph. His English is way better now than it was when Joe would interview him on the star of the game. My name would be Cesar Geronimo on here. But another Cesar fan got it first.
