    Allan Cerda

Guy has put up over an .800 OPS all the way up the system. Seems like he has some OBP skills and some pop. In a SSS, he’s raked since he’s gotten promoted to AA. Figured a thread on him was needed since he’s now on the 40 and in the high minors. I think he may get a cup of coffee this year, especially if Naquin and Pham are moved at the deadline.

Kind of get a Jose Siri vibe from him but I'd keep taking Siri types until one of them finally pans out.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Siri’s not looking that bad in Houston. 1.3 fWAR in 66 games. Granted, most of that is on defense, but he hit well last year. He definitely hasn’t “panned out” but the jury is still out on him.

.564 OPS this year. Still strikes out a ton and doesn’t walk. He sucks.

Yeah, Cerda's bat has a lot more potential than Siri's. Of course, Siri's calling card is speed w/ cannon arm in CF, so the bat doesn't matter as much, but I'll take the guy with more of a clue at the plate. Cerda's patience this year is encouraging, but the swing-and-miss is concerning. I'd probably hold back on the cup of coffee this season and let him prove it in AA/AAA this season and early next season first.
