Hoffman threw a lot of pitches might not be around long in this game

    That's a great guess. I'll give a hint.

Bob Gibson said the following of him : " “I always threw at him. He swung way too hard against me, flinging himself at the ball and spinning around in the batter’s box like he was on the playground or something. I had to demonstrate to him that I was no playground pitcher. To that end, I made a point of throwing at least one fastball in his direction nearly every time he came to the plate.

“It was virtually impossible to ignore him because he was always talking. Usually, it was to complain about how much his back or his shoulder or some other thing was hurting him. Then he would step in the batter’s box and swing so hard that the flagsticks on top of the stadium would bend.”
“It’s the mathematical potential for a single game to last forever, in a suspended world where no clock rules the day, that aligns baseball as much with the dead as the living.”

In my replay lost game one 2-1 Sutton over Norman.
I won game 2 though with a season high 14 runs. Doug Rau was hammered and Grimsley the witch doctor pitched a complete game. 7 and a half games back in my replay.
Did Davey Lopes hit a HR in game 1?

Grimsley pitched a complete game shutout in the first MLB game I ever attended.

No Lopes went 2-4 with a bb. Yeager hit a solo HR and Russel doubled in Mota for the 2 runs.
Rose Hit his 3rd HR for me this season in the 8th for Reds only run.

    That's awesome.
I'll go to the proper place on the board at seasons end and post final stats for my replay. I'm about to lose Concepcion. Freaking Ed Crosby and Chaney will be my SS soon.
