    Good matchup this weekend. The Reds are 17.5 GB in their division and the Rays are 14.5 GB in their division. Must be similar teams. #analysis

    Joey Votto (back soreness) will ramp up baseball activities today. He’s expected to be back in the lineup this weekend.

    Votto is currently taking batting practice, which is the first time he has hit on the field in the last few days.

    Votto is taking batting practice and could be available off the bench tonight.

    Cincinnati Reds
    @Reds

    The #Reds today activated from the 15-day injured list RHP Alexis Díaz and designated for assignment RHP Robert Dugger.

    Dugger pitched 3.2 shut out innings last night gets DFA'd today

    That makes zero sense, so of course management does it. Seriously, it's downright stupid.

    My guess is that he was told yesterday that he was going to be sent down today no matter how well he did. That is generally how these doubleheader moves work.

    That said, I can think of a few other relievers who should have been sent down before Dugger.

    Came down to him not being available for next 3 days. Most likely.

    But this wasn't sent down(optioned back), it was DFA as in released.

    Yes he was out of options so they could not just send him down

    It’s procedural. He probably didn’t have any options so he had to be DFA’s. I am rather certain he will clear waivers and accept his assignment to AAA.
