I just don't think the small market teams can afford the risk of giving big salaries to players, especially for an extended number of years in a single contract. That's a recipe for the team's finances to fail so bad the team will have to move.

That's the problem, teams are too loose with their money. In fact, most governments are too!

Yes they can. Maybe not a Votto contract but they can give LTC to a few. The Reds were still able to sign Phillips and Unfortunately Bailey as well. There problems continue to be not having a minor league system to help them and avoiding having to overpay for outside FA. This team is not Oakland and TB ridiculously cheap even if they have a better excuse then say Pittsburgh. They’re even worse. They can spend money. They should buy out the arb years and maybe 1-2 FA for Stephenson. There is no replacement ready to take over at all right now.

I would have said India too after least year but they have some options in the minors including whoever doesn’t win the SS job. However if he hits like last year again then I would consider him as a LT option. At least 5-6 years.

The Reds lose to the Yankees on consecutive wild pitches in the 10th.

The turning point of the game was the five-run inning by the Yankees in the third, a product of defensive mistakes.

Minor takes way too long between pitches. Get the ball, get the sign, get set and throw it. That's what your infielders want.

Based on what I saw tonight from the visitors, I know more than the guys who play the game.

Not too many players could have scored from 2nd on that hit. Judge has a rocket for a arm.
However it was just bad luck that Votto was the runner.
Had it been Senzel or India that might have been able to force Judge to uncork a wild throw home then been able to score.
Wouldn't have mattered. The Yankees would have likely scored twice.
    Stupid. Idiotic ghost runner rule.

This leads to the question, Can you pinch run for the ghost runner? Would that then make the runner a poltergeist?
