That hit by Donovan was luck. But I don't think I have ever saw a pitcher that throws a 100 mph give up as much contact and base hits as Ashcraft does.

How many times has he exceeded 6 this season? Once?

Nice to see he can get them when he needs to.

and they're getting a bullpen arm in return. Seems like another team that I know could use bullpen help...

I think the REDS do, too.

And Molina is no longer a good hitter either.

So I guess that’s your standard. .260 OPS. That’s what every team should do.

I think the point here is that you're basically singling out a leak in a ship that's literally sinking.

Here's to a fast-track for one of their draftee Catchers.

I'd prefer bullpen arms over a backup catcher. Would I like a better catcher of course. But it's near the bottom of list in terms of what this team needs right now.

There are many leaks. Not sure why this one is immune from mention.

The Reds all off-season pointed to secondary catcher as an area of need. They punted. Why?

I have a pretty good guess.

With the hopes of the Major League club tied heavily to it's young Starters, it's more important that the Starting Catcher have a high IQ as a Catcher than any other aspect of his game, even if he OPS's .555. And, that's not something that breaks the bank.
