Alfredo Rodriguez comes to mind right away as a player that you watched his swing when they signed him and it was like "huh, hopefully he figures that out" - Arroyo, Marte, Steer, CES, etc - they have the swing down they just need to get stronger and/or work on plate discipline.

No the leagues lower than AA+ seasons ended.

I was a little disappointed that Arroyo didn’t come over and immediately mash but he’s so young and talented that it really doesn’t matter, so long as he’s ready to hit next year
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Ah ok. My bad. Agreed on all counts.

Arroyo went on the IL yesterday with a "left hip strain". Hopefully nothing serious.

Arroyo's bat seems to be coming alive. Over the past 12 games he is posting this line: .293/.356/.561/.917, including 3 home runs. He has struck out just 7 times in 45 plate appearance. It's not due to BABIP luck either, as that stands at .290 across that same span.

    Re: Edwin Arroyo

There’s a reason mlb pipeline kept him ranked very high in their newest rankings. They dropped a lot of prospects who weren’t performing and kept him high up. Remember folks, this is a 19 year old at high A and his last 2 weeks he’s been on fire.

Arroyo is up to .220 from .182 on 5/30 10 for his last 16 in all.

    Re: Edwin Arroyo

Edwin now has his season OPS up to .720 after a remarkable run of 10 games in June in which he's sporting a 1.265 OPS. He is one of the youngest regulars in high A, and after looking a little over matched in the first two months is on a tear. Really nice to see this kid get it going and show what a talented player he is. To this date Arroyo has had only one AB vs a pitcher younger than him and is 3.3 years younger than league average.

    Re: Edwin Arroyo

I didn't realize he was that young, similar to Cam Collier a rung down the ladder then. Hopefully Edwin can keep this pace up. What are the reports on his defense? He was touted as the best SS prospect (defensively) of the recent batch; would it be too much to dream that he continues hitting like this the rest of the year, starts next year in AA and is knocking down the walls to the majors late next season?

Edwin Arroyo is one of the Red's prospects I would be very hesitant to trade. He seems to have a ton of upside and may be the best defensive short stop in the organization.

Massive issues with mental mistakes, but he's got the arm, range, and instincts to stay at SS.

11 errors are an issue, but he's young. Kids typically grow out of that as they age.

Although I'm cherry-picking stats, this is still exciting to see from a 19-year-old in high-A.
