This satisfies my sense of proportionality.

We both know that Phil has already spent the “payflex” on “dates.”

Reds began the season 3-22 and ended with 100 losses. One of the worst seasons for a Reds team I’ve ever seen. Even in the four-year rebuild last decade they never lost so many. Two gut rebuilds almost back-to-back, many of the best players gone, and in return a number of talented but unproven prospects.

So we turn the page and hopefully somebody will get hold of the situation and improve it for next year. This one was the pits.

    Started 3-22… finished 6-20. That’s gotta be a record

The Reds fought futility but futility always wins.

Getting to 100 losses was a great accomplishment. The futility required was exceptional. The incompetence involved in the process will not soon be forgotten.

    I would’ve been so disappointed at 99.

This team, this organization, this season deserves 100 loses. Well done!

Well, that was exciting. The Reds fought for last place in their division up until the very last day and came out on bottom!

Haha.. that literally made me laugh out loud.. Great summary of the season.

They not only lost 100 games ... but they really bent themselves over yesterday for the "icing on the cake" of that 100th loss

I really don't see much improvement next season as they continue to trod along, continue to take their lumps, on that "learning curve" with the youngsters. Oh sure, the young pitching will start to show maturity (promise); but the offensive unit will be sorely lacking (imo). Whose manning the OF again in '23?

The young pitching covers how many innings in a five-day stretch of, say, 45 innings? Greene and Lodolo, like 12-13 innings total? Diaz, 2 or 3?

Ashcraft is worth keeping but no sure thing.

You can’t win covering less than half your innings with bright young pitching talent. I’d add pitching to your list.

Yes, agree 100%.. They also have almost 190 IP that Mahle and Castillo pitched this year that need replacing next year.
Like many recent offseasons, the Reds have many players on the roster that are close to replacement level, so it's relatively easy to go from "horrible" to just "very bad".
Will they do it though? It remains to be seen.

To the top of the list. 2 Starters and 3 relievers are priorities 1 through 5.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I agree about the offense. 2023 will look a lot like 1982 if the Reds don’t add some big bats. Lots of good pitching performances wasted. I don’t want Hunter Greene and Nick Lodolo experience what Mario Soto went through.
