2022 MLB In Season Discussion pt. II

    season ain't over...

The BB's for Lamet this year are weird as he wasn't showing that wildness in AAA nor really any other time in his career. He seems rather average. Devastating K rate though. I don't think I want him in the rotation, but he'd be interesting in the pen.

Lamet reminds me of the Gausman acquisition a few years ago, which means the Reds can sign him and let him progress his way into 2023 when he'll sign with somebody else and compete for the CY...

    RE Waivers process.
    https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/...s-waivers.html
An important reminder on waivers now that it’s the primary means of acquiring talent from another organization: waiver priority is determined based on overall record (worst record to best record) and, unlike the now-retired “revocable trade waivers,” is not league-specific. If the Nationals want Dinelson Lamet, whom the Brewers designated for assignment this week, they’ll have first crack at claiming him off waivers; if they pass, the A’s are up next. Then the Royals. And so on and so forth.
I don't see how Lamet gets all the way to the Reds unless everyone's 40 man roster is crammed at this point, even then Washington, Oakland, Detroit, Chicago, KC and maybe Pittsburgh would all get priority over the Reds. Does anyone know if the order is set at the time of the waiver or the claim?

Did I see where they play 12 X the rest of the season? Padres need a sweep.

    I'll be watching for sure.

The Dodgers are going to honor Vin Scully before the game.

Colorado claimed him. Not sure if that was before the Reds came up or if the Reds passed on him.

Colorado getting him means the Reds did not put in a claim. Pretty hard to defend not doing so with the 40 man flotsam that the Reds have.

I think the league as whole sees him as a "Melvin"

Reds will stick with what they have unless injury stops them. They have Dunn, Williamson and possibly Overton to make starts. These guys need innings as do the three rookies. I would rather they place Dunn in the bullpen but that can wait until next season. Dugger can make spot starts as well.

Limet doesn’t seem worth the hassle.

50 game suspension for Derek Dietrich.

Do you really have to ask what for?

Limet has been in the pen this year and is seen a possible closer due to stuff and injury issues (ala Rasiel). He is controlled through next year and due to missed time is not expected to get much of a big bump in arbitration. Reds could have seen if they liked him in the pen at little cost and if they did they would have him for next year too,
I guess this year's pen is so elite that no one could be bumped out.
