Re: The futility thread.. 100, 102 loss watch

    So today:
    48-74 .393 winning percentage.
    40 games left to play.
If the Reds go 14-26 in the rest of their games (.350 winning percentage), they hit 100 losses.

Still kind of a tossup, in my opinion, although with the young starters getting shut down, it's more likely.
    Schedule is below
I am going to say we have 18 tough games left (Phillies, Cards, Brewers, Boston). The rest of the games (22) are against teams that are more or less equal to the Reds
So let's say we go .500 against the easy teams (11-11)
We only have to go at least 4-14 against the tough teams then to avoid 100 losses.
That's why I still think 100 losses is not a given.

    1 game vs phillies
    3 vs Nats
    3 vs Cards
    4 vs Rockies
    3 Cubs
    3 Brewers
    3 Pirates
    5 vs Cardinals
    2 vs Boston
    4 Brewers
    3 Pirates
    6 Cubs
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

6-13 since the trade deadline wrapped up.

As long as the Zeuch's, Dugger's, and Dunn's are starting games the Reds are going to lose a lot. Every game with them taking the mound will be a tough win, no matter who they are playing.

Not to mention that Mike Minor will be handed the ball several more times too. Lodolo is the only starter I feel confident with and he's likely shut down soon.

Re: Can the Reds go 24-38 to avoid 100 losses?

100 losses sure. This organization has blown for years. Thanks for nothing Reds. I really don't follow baseball anymore since the reds are always/usually out of contention early. Even when they sneak in on the odd year, they find a way to lose brutally.

Dunn is pretty clearly better than Dugger and Zeuch, but I agree with the general point.

They've got to go 15-24 to avoid the century mark. They're facing the worst team in baseball this weekend (at least by record). If they don't go at least 2-1, then I'd say the freefall is on.
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

I actually went to the Reds game against the Phillies and when they put the lineup and their respective OPS up on the giant screen the Phillies fans behind said “/expletive/ their entire starting lineup is Matt Vierling!” Sadly he was being very generous with the comparison when looking at the bottom of the lineup

This team easily clears 100 loses and I think finishes with 105/106. You look at the 25 man roster as it sits today you could easily count the number of MLB caliber players on your fingers with zero danger of running out. It’s just a really really bad team. With Louisville not exactly brimming with talent unless they hit on some Brandon Drurys this off season next year could be worse

Right now on pace for 62-100. It's happening.

You were saying? LOL, give him the Team MVP...or at least a game ball.

Sadly, I think Dunn will have a 6+ ERA over a full season with the Reds. He'll be lucky to get it any lower with the abundance of walks and homeruns he hands out.

Thinking it's likely they're going to win 13 more games.

7 more games with the Pirates, 9 more with the Cubs, and 3 at home against the Rockies.

Could be pretty close. Two of those three losing teams have better records than Reds, though the Rockies win mostly at home.

Reds rotation currently is Lodolo, Dunn, Minor, Cessa, and Anderson.

Probably right, the chances are they’ll win 13, but crazier things have happened.

And to think I thought this team might sneak up to 68 wins this year. What an embarrassment, baseball needs relegation like European Soccer. If you don't want to win then let someone else who does try.

He clearly doesn’t care how many loses the Reds have.
He'll look at the revenue sharing and think... Man why did we waste so much money trying to win, we could have just pocketed all of that.

Right... The ole Bob Nutting Epiphany.

Yep. It's the big elephant in the room. And it's exactly what has happened to the Reds.

    Shameful.

I would 100 percent be in favor of relagation. It would wrap up nonsense like this that is poisoning the league in a heartbeat.

They're going to pick off some games against winning teams too, like last night. As bad as the teams is, I just don't seem not winning at least 12 more games.
